25A, 230 and 282 are still all running. 25A and 282 are run as needed, while 230 and 285 are daily trains running 6-7 days a week. (I will say that 230 has become rather short as of late, usually maxing out at 4,000' or less....quite pathetic for a train that routinely spiked 10,000' daily) From what I was told, 294/295 are currently only running one day a week due to the lack of traffic.
Traffic was suspended between Landrum and Flat Rock in December of 2001, and the line itself was railbanked for possible future use. The track was already in bad shape, and if my memory serves correctly, the only customer left was a paper mill at Brevard. (the remainder of the branch to Rosman was abandoned years ago)

Does anyone know how many test/geometry cars the FRA currently has in use out there? I caught DOTX 219 this afternoon; it's supposed to be self-propelled, but a CSX GEVO had to be called in for power instead.... The only time I've ever heard the term "super siding" was in the aforementioned article. All of the crews around here (on the same Fitzgerald Sub. line mentioned in the article) simply refer to these new additions as "much needed double track" and are NOT considered any type of siding. (track two is given all the same top notch amenties/maintenance as track one) All of them are equipped with 45-50mph double crossovers at midpoint. Their goal was to fill in all non-expensive
