I've used Pliobond on plastic over the years and never noticed a problem of any kind. Perhaps it attacks styrene and not other plastics? BTW, Walther's Goo has a surprisingly similar color, viscosity and smell to the Goodyear Pliobond I've used. I wonder if they just repackage it? Ken
What do you all do with yours?
For many years now, I scan and hard disk file (under meaningful folder names) any MR article I think I may need for reference in the future. Generally it's only 10-15 pages/month. Additionally, MR many times has 1 or 2 columns of advertising on a page within an article. With those, I generally combine the text and pictures from 2 or more article pages onto 1 page by deleting the ads as I have no need for them and it also
Interesting that your hobby shop works with you with Walthers. When I lived in another town, I bought EVERYTHING thru the LHS. 5 years ago, we moved about 40 miles away and another hobby shop got my business. For a while anyway. When he refused to honor Walther's sale prices and even wanted to charge shipping on top of his list price I started buying online more and more often. He also refuses to lower his prices off MSRP even occassionally to at least match what other hobby shops are selling
I have alot of magazines of MR. but wanted to know whats the best way to store magazines? right now i stack it in the box. i wasnt sure if its good way to stack it. thanks Rich
Know anyone that has a cat? If they use Fresh Step litter (maybe some other brands as well) you have an endless supply of very tough plastic pails with a handle that are perfect for carrying and storing magazines! They hold about 4 years worth depending on the size of the container
I don't know about RMC, but my MR is late by about 5 days now. I sure hope they aren't in trouble.
| They have raised the amount for free shipping from $100 to $150, But they implemented a standard USA shipping of $8.95 for all orders below $150. I think that's a reduction of the max which used to be around 12.95 or so. Like others here, I order from them 4-5 times a year and have always had great, friendly service. I visted their Terminal Hobby Shop in Milwaukee (a 220mile round trip!) a few weeks ago and they are just as friendly and helpful there as well. Ken
I got this from Dallas Model Works the other day: Hello Ken, You may or may not have already noticed, but at the beginning of this month, Walthers increased the prices of all of their products right across the board – some rather dramatically. This includes not only all Walthers accessories, rolling stock and locos but Proto 1000 , Proto 2000 , Proto N and Life-Like products as well. It went on to say they are holding the prices until their inventory is gone. Ken
Hi Everyone! I am quite pleasantly surprised at the number of responses my query generated. I had no idea there were so many of us who feel we might be considered a Lone Wolf. I found it extremely interesting that so many of us share many, if not most, of the same reasons (aside from no time, or no clubs close by) for leaning towards the lone route. Most of us don't consider ourselves anti-social and welcome contact with others and participate in our forums and user groups, when we wish to -
This topic is really intended only for those of us who are considered primarily lone wolves. I don't want to get into the pros and cons and benefits of clubs, round robins and whatever. Yes, I realize clubs and such are beneficial in many ways, but m any of us not in clubs just can't/won't deal with the continuing pettiness of club politics, personalities, rivet counters, inherent pickyness of far too many members and, of course, the rules police. I was wondering if this DVD series has ended? I haven't seen a new one since June. I admit I have returned a couple of these over the last year or so as they just weren't worth it, but I have bought over 15 of these suckers and that's a tidy purchase. So I hope they haven't just cancelled me because of the returns. That would really tick me off. Has anyone received any beyond #15 or the Special Edition Painting Backdrops? Thanks. Ken
