I think 75 seconds of paint drying would be more interesting....better yet, artificial turf growing
WPSX cars are for either Green Bay or Weston (Wausau). Usually the open bottom cars are for Green Bay and the rotary dump cars are for Weston
I was watching some switching today in Neenah, Wi and noticed that there was a huge cut of tankers for the local paper industries. This is pretty much normal. Upon a closer look, a whole bunch of them had their orginal reporting marks "whited out" and replaced with KMNX (example car: KMNX 71040. The cars I seen were in the 69000-71000 series). The numbers were not affected. I am guessing that these cars orignally were UTLX. There was some JM Huber, old englehard tanks and just plain white
OK, makes sense. Thanks for the quick response.
Great. Another useless magazine about electric choo-choo's. I guess it's better than steam. Not really. I'm going to guess it's going to be a "one-sitter" magazine again. The last 2 issues. the only good thing about it is that I didn't waste that much time on them. I've been a subscriber for almost 2 years now and when my subscription runs out in Feb, I will not renew. They can give me 3 years for 1 1/2 year price and I won't. If I wanted to read articles about
This will all come to a head, and likely end, when a flood of such calls about railfans come flowing into law enforcement and they (law enforcement) find that virtually all of the calls (if not 100%) are false alarms related to railfans innocently exercising our hobby.
Not to hijack the thread but look at the time/date/year that eolafan posted at. I smell some kind of conspiracy here....lol
As mentioned before, the CN is really the only railroad around this area. ELS sure but I've tried to catch this RR with no success. Neenah is really the only "hot spot" around NE Wis. The only use Appleton has is catching northbound coal trains struggling (at times) up the hill to the depot. Some local switching is kind of cool, especially the flats. Getting around in Neenah is pretty easy. CNW mentioned it (Harrison st) and that runs for about a mile along the tracks. Kampo road, Plexas
I normally don't do this, if you want a personal chauffer for the spots around the Neenah area, Oshkosh area, and even the FDL area towards south, you can leave me a message with your number and we can set something up. I know the area very well and also some of the side spots since I used to drive for the company that transported the crews. If not, hope you enjoy the area and be safe.
Not a chauffer but a guide, I'm free most of the week.
Last night (9-3) A452 left Neenah at about 165 cars, 12,000+ tons but only 9700 feet. A447 left Neenah later in the evening at 199 cars but I didn't hear his totals also caught a core train with 137 cars. The CN must have scrapped the 150 car limit and stuck with the 10,000 foot mark down on this side of the railroad. I have never seen a Northbound train with DP power unless it the Wausau coal trains.
Since you mentioned it, I haven't heard a coal train go up to Wausau for awhile now. I know CN runs southbounds with DPU power. I usually see M346 with the extra units but also twice now i've seen a combined Sulphur and grain/potash combined going southbound thru Neenah.
