I bought elastic thread at a Train Show. It was made specifically for use on telephone and telegraph poles, and came in a variety of prototype colors like copper green, black and gray. I still haven't installed it yet though, so no pictures! Jon
Two things you might try: 1. Remove the garage door in the back. Sometimes the logs roll out at an angle causing the logs behind to jam. 2. Lower your operating voltage. It is best set at just enough to move the logs and planks, but no higher. Too high and they'll jam. Jon

True Reindeer aficionados will tell you that Rudolph was merely a marketing ploy of Montgomery-Ward. There are only 8 REAL reindeer! Jon
Just before the Wellspring deal, Lionel Trains Incorporated purchased the exclusive rights to the Lionel name and about a year later the remaining assets of The Lionel Corporation. This included more than just the purchase of the "Lionel" name, but all of the files, office furniture from New York, whatever else was left. The update on the layout series makes me want to rip up some roads and go with the road material they used. I also want to try some of that Noch grass mat material. It's been awhile since I've done updates to my scenery, but this issue makes me want to give it a try! Jon Oh, and I've heard great things about the February issue....
First thing to check is that the wheels are free-moving. Unlike your Polar Express, these wheels should spin when you push the engine down the track. If they don't, check: 1. The rod assemblies. If they are out of synch, then check the eccentric crank on each side. If the screw was put through in the wrong position, the rods will bind. 2. Check the smoke unit lever. It is the rod that is pushed forward by the left side main rod just below the slide valve. If it is binding, it will also jam the
All the companies have had issues with getting their trains to market on-time. Sometimes the cause is technological changes, other times it is delays in raw materials, and sometimes it is due to shipping issues (like when all the freighters were jammed off the Port of Los Angeles!) Jon
