Frank, That's the one that's on SR 91, yes? I agree. I hope that they can preserve it. Tom
Frank, For me, if there's a window where even part of the inside can be viewed by a visitor (or me), then I try and "reasonably" detail it, like this diner that I'm still working on: Now, how far you define "reasonably" is entirely up to you. With that said, I'm probably one of those that goes a little farther than is necessary. Tom
Bear, If you are doing a logging RR then a Shay would be a good locomotive for you. Bachmann supposedly makes a very nice one in their Spectrum line. I could be wrong but they may make both a 2- and 3-truck Shay. Tom
My plan is to be both DC and DCC layout .
Kopong, If you do plan to have both DC and DCC on the same layout, make sure that you keep the two COMPLETELY isolated electrically from one another. DC & DCC do not play nicely together. Ideally, you should have some sort of toggle switch that gives you an either/or - i.e. either DCC or DC; not both. Decoders are designed to go in a variety of manufacturer's products. With that said, certain decoders may be designed to fit into a specific locomotive. For example, Digitax decoders ending with the suffx "L0" are designed for Proto 1000/2000 locomotives. Actually, what would be helpful, Kopong,

Simon, Thanks for posting the pics from the craftsman show. Beautiful work! I love the burned down building. And you answered my question about where it was held. I take it that's it's just a Saturday/Sunday show? Tom
Wow. That sounds like a fascinating experience, Simon. Did you glean a lot of good tips and ideas from the modeling "mensas"? Tom
Joe, Delrin is a great material to machine because it gives you nice, smooth surfaces. However, this is one reason why it doesn't make a good material to adhere to. Actually, silicone (RTV) would be a better adhesive to use on plastics like Delrin. Tom
