I was there working in the NFR NMRA booth. We build models and people just stop by and talk. It is very popular in southern Ontario where we are from. This was the second year and it must have been okay , we are invited back next year. We had two local modellers join us a man and wife team. All had a great time. Dave
I started an earlier post on this, no matter.Myself and about 12 people southern Ontario will be at the show manning a NMRA booth. We work on models and people wander by to watch and chat.We do this at a number of train shows in southern Ontario each year. Some of the guys will be presenting clinics at various times during the show. stop by and talk or just watch. We were there last year and it proved popular enough the organizers asked us back. Dave
Nov. 14 and 15. A group of us from Ontario will be in a booth working on various projects for their own layouts or collections. This a NMRA thing we do at local train shows. The guys were there last year and it proved popular and we were invited back this year. The idea is for people at the show to see modelers at work and ask questions and just shoot the breeze. some of the group will be doing clinics. If you plan to attend drop by and say hi. Dave
Thanks for the replies. Sorry I did not get back sooner, family prblems, now sorted out. Will keep an eye out for those going. Dave
I have the same problem, most of what I have tried has not worked out. I plan to talk to Lee Riley of Bachmann at the convention to find out. If this subject is burried when I get back and have an answer I will start a new post with the answer. Dave
I usually find some bargains. There are a lot of items that we dont see in LHS here in the great white north. There are free hand outs from manufactures, KD give couplers away etc. Look for some of the smaller sellers, figures and scratch building materials. This year I am looking for On30 arch bar trucks. Got some at the last narrow guage convention I attended and need more, hope the dealer is there. One of the advantages of attending the convention is half a day with out the public. Everyone in
Is any one planning to attend. Please no flaming of the NMRA. I will be there for the whole week. Dave
Nice pics.Anyone planning to model a quarry should look at that pic of the walls. Sure would help in modeling. Dave
I paint all of my under frames grimy black with a rust wash over them. You cant always see them but I know its there and thats what is important to me. Dave
I pretty much brush paint everything. I do a lot of wood structures and often thin the paint on the first coat to get a weathered paint look right away. This works on rolling stock as well. I cannot figure why one would paint something solid then try to make it look aged later. works for me. Dave
