I have been dealing with Athearn for over 40 years and have never had any problems with them at all. They have always provided excellent customer service and technical support when it was needed. You just cannot go wrong buying from them as far as quality and service.
I have a 55 car stack train using all Athearn well cars. I have mixed containers from Athearn, Walthers, and Concor with no problems. The only tiny problem is that the Concor containers have a square peg on each corner that is supposed to fit in the holes of the container below it or the well car. All of the cars and the other containers have round pegs. I just filed the pegs off of the Concor and glued them in place. Works great and have now started upgrading to some of the new cars that will accomodate
I am trying to find a good place to purchase scenry for an O Guage layout such as trees, telephone poles, etc. My trains are all HO scale so I have never looked for O scale at all. I am trying to find someplace to look that I can refer to a Mom down the street that has no idea where to even start. I told her if she could find it I would help her build the train layout for her two sons. Thanks in advance George
We have two of these units installed on two mains on our clubs layout. They do use four photo cells for each signal and are powered from an extra power supply under the layout. They do not use track power. There are two cells on each side of the crossing. They work great and you can place them as far or as close to the crossing as you like. We have not had any problems with them at all. They will however, come on if you turn the overhead lights off so they won't work in a night time situation
Thanks very much for the help. I will take a look and see what I can come up with. George
I am looking for a good book that gives details on how to weather freight cars. I have seen a few listed in various places but I don't know much about them. I have just started trying to weather cars and need a book that gives a lot of details and tips. Thanks in advance, George
I am going to work on it tonight Joe. I tried today but both of my 3 year old Grandsons were here all day and I cannot get much done in my train room with little hands everywhere. After supper tonight I will see if I can get it installed. They use two small watch/hearing batteries that seem to work forever. He says 10 hours but I have about six cabooses with markers installed I have had about a year and they still work. The replacment batteries can be ordered online or you can order from him. It
Joe I don't think I answered your original question but yes, it will be the red lights on the rear of the Superliner Car George
I have been buying mine on e-bay from Scalelike Industries. He sells cars with markers or strobes already installed and also just the light kits that you may purchase and install yourself. He has them as constant on, strobes, single markers and dual markers. You can look through his inventory and if you have any questions he is very quick to answer and very helpful.I will e-mail you the web site since I do not think we are supposed to post them here. Hope this helps you out. I have purchased quite
