Hi Jerry I painted most of the trackwork on my last layout with the Rusty Rails painter It worked... I don t trust myself with an airbrush near trackwork Even with a couple of coats the Rusty Rails... diverging rail contact point can you tell I am speaking from bad experience All in all the Rusty Rails
the Rusty Rails painter works OK for large projects make sure you thoughly clean the applicator after each use water based paint The painter comes with extra application disks as well as a bottle
I have used Joe s other products specifically the printing and decal remover with great success I actually just ordered the rail painter today I make custom turnouts and was looking for a different approach to painting The price is right and he ships them for free
I ve read all the posts I can find about the Rusty Rails Painter and it seems that most people who use it like it My question is for those who have used it What type of paint did you find worked best... for the Rusty Rails Painter Did you have to thin the paint I have a lot of track to paint and spraying
go to joesmodeltrains.com or something like that and theres some information. i like the way this works, i havent used it, but it beats having the ties and track all the same color, and just leaving the track unpainted. i know from experience--painting each tie and rail with a brush will drive you KRAZY!!!! Has anyone seen one of these or used one? They're on E-bay but I've never seen it anywhere else. I've got about 200 feet of N scale code 55 concrete ties to paint and was not looking forward to hand painting the rail sides. If this actually would work it would be to easy right!! Any other ideas? Guy

I have used it too, and agree with the other posters. It is a pain to clean though, so I don't do small sections, but try to use it when I have a lot to paint. I got a bottle of the paint they sell, and at first glance it looks too thick, but it works well. You will have to touch up some areas with a brush, and use a brush around your turnout points.
I have never used this product. I would like to learn more about it. Is it a special tool for this use? Does the paint come with it? Who manufactures it? How can I get it? I would appreciate any information that you all can give me on it. i have always had a dillemma with painting/weathering track. Thanks
I used the paint made for the Rusty Rails painter on Atlas code 83 it worked great IMHO yes it did get a little on the spikes and ties but once everything is painted ballasted and weathered with oil grease etc it looks great Personally I like the product and the paint they make for it it made
