RE: America's Regional Railroads

Mr. Nanaimo73(Dale), in the section on the BAR, you mention the Northern Maine Junction. Do you know in what city it was located?

It is just west of Bangor.

Dale,

I would be interested in anything you come up with on the ICG. That is probably the rail line I am most interested in.

I feel it was the ICG that started the Regional Railroad movement, and I've been looking at their lines a fair bit recently. Now that I've finished this 32 day quagmire, I'm going to be looking at the number of AC locomotives built, and who owns them. That will probably take me into July. After that I will probably do "ICG Rationalization" (I was going to call it the ICG Diet Plan), which I started on before switching to "Iowa". I would like to get "ICG" done by September 27, the 150th anniversary of the last spike driven at Mason, completing the $26.5 million, 705 mile (World's longest at the time) charter lines. Today (June 11) is the 151st anniversary of the completion of the Dunleith (East Dubuque) to Cairo line.

RE: America's Regional Railroads

Shouldn't Ohio Central be in there? It's considered more a Regional than a Shortline.

I would love to add it to the list.
It is more of a family of shortlines instead of a single Regional. The 244 mile Columbus and Ohio River Rail Road, the 94 mile Ohio Central and the 50 mile Ohio Southern cross over each other, and together are over the 350 mile limit. Perhaps they will merge them together into one railroad.
