Building "field railroad" cars

Does anyone have any ideas about what types of small cars I could make for my "field railroad" type layout?

If anyone has plans to build this type of thing and is willing to share them it would be great!

Re: Building "field railroad" cars

Its time to look into 7/8's scale (1:13.7) two foot narrow gauge railroading (its one of my interests)

My little railroad so far - http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/p/157615/1738373.aspx#1738373

Pete's railroad is one of the best but I heard he tore it all up recently to do it all over -

Bill is nice too - http://www.amalgamatedconserves.org.uk/

lots more info and ideas here especially during swap car build time when members anonomously build cars for one another (like secret santa) - http://www.7-8ths.info/

Re: Building "field railroad" cars

Welcome to the confusing world of large scale! All of the above run on Gauge #1, G scale, 45 mm track except the 7/8n18 which run on smaller 32 mm track (O gauge).

Scotty L's diagram may help -

You can also do similar models in a smaller scale (G - 1:22.5 or 1:24) but you may get inspiration from the links I mentioned. I have a large number of other links too. Just add @yahoo.com to my screen name here to email me for them.
