Joe, That could very well explain almost every teacher I've met.

Hey!!! Ever wonder what us teachers talk about in the faculty room???  Some certain "students" maybe?  Huh?   Actually many of us are quite nice once you get to know us....  We just have a tough job to do at times.

Sawyer, you mean like something from Yamaha?  I have a Roland A-30, does that count?

hehe, almost all the teachers I've had were pretty good; hated my science teacher the second semester last year b/c she just became a serious PITA; once, when she assigned us the EXACT same project for the third week in a row, I groaned and she blew up and acted like it was a PRIVILEGE to do that project instead of bookwork; I'd personally take the bookwork-simpler to do and I learn better that way. Also, my Spanish teacher last year was a very old German lady (she was born in Germany during WW2), and she absolutely loathed our class, and we loathed her. Of course, she cussed at us in both German and English. One class period after Obama had won, she just sat there and lectured us on her idea the US should be more like Germany. And pretty much every kid in that class was/still is a republican, lol. We wanted to just tell her "If you love Germany so much, why don't you get the heck out of the US and go back?"

As to the keys, I was thinking more HP or Dell, lol.

I didn't make it back yesterday, Chloe, so I will pick up the  tab for those who waited.

Tom,  No track on the trestle yet because Larry has been doing flight school on Saturdays.  Today he will take his Private Pilot Written Exam.  That should free up some time which has been filled with studying.  The Thanksgiving  and Christmas holidays should see some serious layout time.  I have my fingers crossed.

der,  I know how the honey-do projects are.  Now that the weather is crappy here, it is so hard to work outside.  We are hoping to work on a railing for the steps to the front  porch this weekend.  I have a wreath party for the gals at work on  the 20th.  After that we will be back to the layout.

Jerry,  You seem to be better than most  at keeping us updated on your progress.  A foundry is a great idea for a background building.

Later,  Sue

Re: Elliot´s Trackside Diner, Mark XX

Strong coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thanks.

***Jeffrey, I like the detailing you've been doing on the locos, like those fan blades. Very nice! (must have been replaced in the wee folks little shop recently, eh?)

***Duke, which one is running that engine, the old fella or his dog? Great pic!

***Jerry, I like the look of that Rowe buidling.

***Sue, Congrats to Larry, as I already know he will pass the test.

Some additional lights I needed to finish the wife's hospital heliport arrived yesterday. Wish I could find some 3mm flashing colored lights, but I'll use what I've got for now. Wife still wants it on the hospital roof, so that is where it will go. Wiring would have been easier to do for a ground heliport beside the hospital.

MIL has Dementia with Lewy Bodies, as was quite apparent while they were here. It's tough on my wife to deal with and she hopes we can all make it through to one last Christmas before a nursing home becomes the only alternative. FIL is still holding his own following that big stroke.

The thing in my chest seems to be threatening to return. It worries me a bit. Wouldn't want to have to endure that again and have it biopsied. Pressure sore on my nose kept me from using the cpap last night and already the difference in fatigue is clear. Feel like I'm falling apart a bit at a time. Oh well, that's life sometimes.

Have a good day all.

Rob

Re: Elliot´s Trackside Diner, Mark XX

Good afternoon, double cheeseburger basket with a Coke please 'n thank-you...I'll just have a "set" where the King of Toddland was...before he high-tailed it outta here. Seems he was mumblin' something about missing Turkey Day, and how could it be Christmas Eve already...

I worry about him somedays...

Maybe I'll send him a card to cheer him up...

Just a friendly reminder to the young 'uns here with tyrannical teachers. Keep in mind, your diploma is supposed to mean more than your butt was in a seat for 12 years. It is not a mere "certificate of attendance." So, hopefully the teachers are challenging you, and making you earn that piece of paper. Now, you may have a true moron or two...it does happen, even at the college level. I could tell you stories of a fellow instructor I had the misfortune to w**k with a few years ago. "If she's certified, she's qualified" kinda sums it up. And yeah...the staff DO have interesting discussions about some of the students from time to time...

Well, I primed the ex: Goodseed and Grain foobie yesterday, hit it with a faded/weatherbeaten looking Illinois Central orange. I've modified the mix so many times, I couldn't tell you what-all is in it now if I had to. But, it went on just fine thanks to the fantastic Harbor Freight airbrush

I'm still fixin' to get pics of the XTRA hoppers. I "should" go mow the leaves, I mean, the yard... the weather is too ideal not to. I can think of about 100 other things I "should" do to take advantage of the weather conditions. But, truth be told, I probably won't. Then, when the weather is downright disgusting, and I'm doing those tasks...I can be that much more miserable while doing them...

JEFF: the GP-42X looks good, looks like the GP-60 DB part fits real nice. The paint-out on the UP looks good too. I saw where a CNW fan had taken to patching UP stuff for CNW, as-if the 1995 merger had gone the other way. I guess I take a little evil delight in seeing Uncle Pete's equipment "patched" for someone else, revenge maybe? I don't know. I miss English Stagecoach Yellow. Heck, I even miss the dreaded Zito yellow!! On a rare day, I'll see a patched CNW loco roll by, with an Armour Yellow patch with red UP numbers where the mighty Ball and Bar herald used to be. Sad. Truly sad.

Have a good day one and all...

Chris

Re: Elliot´s Trackside Diner, Mark XX

Rob  Ken isn’t THAT old and the train doesn’t run very often without the dog(Sam-is female) being on it. One of the funny things is,if he runs the train in reverse the dog will turn around and face the back of the train and when he runs it forward Sam will face forward.

That is the yard down at Apex,NC where I go every year for the steam meet.

Re: Elliot´s Trackside Diner, Mark XX

last 4 hrs netted me:

1 bottle Signal red

1 Bottle Engine Black

1 pkg .100" Styrene rod

1pkg Styrene "Metal Siding"

1/2 hrs worth of pricing suppllies at Sams Club for Chili Cookoff this Saturday

40 minute travel or $5 + in gas

Remainder visiting in the Elevator

Except for the 1/2 hr at Sams, all in all a fair afternoon.

Now a nice walk with the dog in the absolutly beautiful sunshine and warm afternoon. Followed by a trip to the layout were I will discover the items I forgot that will keep me from progressing with my current projects.

Coffee refill, please.

****Duke, Sam just knows which way she needs to face to catch the wind in her face. She's a pretty neat dog. We would love to attend such an event and see all the live action. And of course "go for a ride" ourselves. Curious, what is the people/weight limit on a train with an engine like that steamer at the head end?

Re: Elliot´s Trackside Diner, Mark XX

Evenin' folks!

Got home mid afternoon from the Syracuse Train Show.  Long line to get in this morning.  Not a whole lot new.... I expected that.  Did pick up a couple presents in the Thomas line for a certain granddaughter of mine. Got an engine house for her set for 40% off (one of the walls is missing i think....)  Saw several people that I know, but did not see John there.....  Must have missed each other.  Most of time I limped around on my sore foot and wished I could find a place to sit down.  Went to the show with a train buddy of mine and his 22 month old grandson.  Is he cute!  I'll post a photo of him when I get a chance.  I aslo got a chance to chat with a MMR who was one of the ones that judged the layout.  He confirmed my suspicians of why I got the low score on the backdrop for the layout.  We also talked about some improvements on my forest (Actually, I had said I was going to sprinkle some various appropriate colors of ground foam on the top of the forest when they were here) he advised that I need to do exactly what I had suggested, that is to blend in the colors better.  He was also very complimentary of several things that he saw that day. BTW, this guys scenery is one of the best anywhere!

All told, a good day. I laid down and got my foot elevated for about an hour and a half when I got home.  Feels much better tonight.

THAT is a Southern 4-6-2 Pacific and it could probably pull a six car train with two people per car without too much of a problem. Coming up a grade could be and is interesting at times and THAT is saying THAT the average weight per person is maybe 200# or a little more and I do fit THAT category.

Chris  I wouldn’t get any points with THAT,now would I???

Best to all on sick call and those recovering

Well hiya, Duke! yeah, THAT might have the inclination to do some editing...on that. I'm wondering if she still has a job and a husband...I think it all hangs on how she did shooting high school football last night.
