How many switches do you have on your layout??

I am just wondering how many of you guys have lots of switches?  I currently have 17 switches.  All of them are 022 postwar switches.  Do you have yours wired up for fixed voltage? You use controllers?  Thanks.

Re: How many switches do you have on your layout??

My layout is postwar 027 and I have SIX 1122 Remote Switches and FOUR 1022 Manual Switches.

The 1122's have been modified for fixed voltage and I use capacitive discharge circuits for power and are switched with 3 dual 1122 controllers.

On 2 of the 1022 manual switches I have added a simple way of remotely switching them using a very simple small motor and electrical circuit.  There is how-to information here:

 I'm redoing the layout to have all seven switches within arms length - they are manual 027 Lionel switches and a few powered-ones but used only manually.

I have 38 postwar switches. Twenty o-22 and eighteen 0-72. All switches are supplied with 18 volts to the coil through the fixed voltage plug. The lights on the switch machines have been modified and are supplied with 6 volts.

I've got 6 o27 K-Line switches and 3 o42 K-Line switches on my layout. All of them are remote control and all of them need to be wired still.

My layout is 027 tubular and I have 11 switches, all wired for fixed voltage and 4 of them are 042 curves and I use all post war double switch controllers.

Lots of 027 uses here.  Why 027? Just curious.  I prefer O scale because I run the bigger postwar locos and they seem to run better on O gauge track.  I know its a little more expensive.  Thanks.

While still outsized, O27 is not as outsized as O31.  It's also easy to cut and available in lots of different radii.

Re: How many switches do you have on your layout??

Right now the layout is nothing but a 4x8 with a single loop of Lionel Fast Track.  By this weekend it will be 4x10 and I have enough Super O for an inner loop with two switches for spurs to place operating accessories.  Now I also have plenty of O and 10 switches, but don't plan to go that way.  Any comments on whether I should use the O.

Re: How many switches do you have on your layout??

8 - 022, fixed voltage, std controllers;

2 - 072, + 6 - 022, waiting for next phase of layout.

Everything should be rewired when there's time - ha!
