WPF July 3rd - July 6th

Here are a few before and after shots of an Atlas Caboose that JKtrains weathered for me just this week.  I was very pleased with the results. There's even reflective tape on the steps!

Re: WPF July 3rd - July 6th

 Desaster has struck!

Inspired by the wonderful photo in the first post to this thread , I decided to go for my first attempt at weathering.

Here it is (and I have to wash it down and repaint it all!):

Ok, it was supposed to look like a run down, decrepit SOO caboose, but I guess weathering is not yet my cup of tea...

I     to the masters, like Robby P. and AggroJones.

Re: WPF July 3rd - July 6th

Its time for another WPF.

Its a "Alberta" hopper.  Faded, used, dusty, dirty, etc......I used the prototype car number  *ALPX 628171* for the idea on this car.

Robby, I think your weathering is top shelf. I want to send my entire fleet of rolling stock to you to make them look like that.

Driline - Nice caboose!  I especially line the simley face, it has sort of a evil grin to it.  JKtrains did an excellent job on it.

Ulrich - Keep trying.  Practice, practice, practice.

Since it appears to be a SOO theme, I'll have to post a pick of some SOO equipment.

Looks fine, there are no exacts in weathering.  Put it on the road and run it like it is.  R. Staller

Re: WPF July 3rd - July 6th

Hi all, well it's been somewhat hot and humid here as of late so working on the layout in the garage has been slow

also been doing some non train related interests with some luck!

But despite all those road blocks some progress has been made, some of the pink is gone and the facia has been installed and primed!

Enjoy the pics.

Chuck & Heather.

Re: WPF July 3rd - July 6th

Great stuff as usual guys. Some great modeling and photography shown here today.

Driline thats a good looking caboose and the weathering job puts mine to shame.

Robby that is a great job of weathering. I have never been able to come close the work you showed here today.

C&O Fan. You did a good job on the little buildings. They were placed on what appears to be a nice layout too!

I've been experimenting with my new video camera. The photo below is a frame from a video I made of a 22-car freight train passing through a RR crossing on the Black River Valley layout. Sorry for the poor quality.

I haven't posted the video on my website yet. If you are interested here is a link:

Keep up the good work everyone. This is always the best thread of the week.

Re: WPF July 3rd - July 6th

Hello everybody..

The weathered models look nice.

Chuck....Did you use a "big hook" to catch that one?

Clinch Valley... Nice bridge scene, and the backdrop looks just like the Smokey Mountains.

Allan ...I like the bridge scene.

Here are two photos. One is an SD7 at work in Prarie View. The other is a passenger train stopping at Blackhawk.

Robby P. have you made a how to thread or video? I would love to learn this process for my N-scale layout.
