Re: COFFEE POT #8, for all to take a drink and chat. Welcome all posters. 4 yrs old and still going.
Well, lets have some fun since the "slimies" slithered over and down rated the POT.
Imagine Doug Murphy arriving at the Chicago train station to this"
This video was made in the Antwerp, Belgium Central Station (train). On a Monday morning, with no warning to the passengers passing through the station, a recording of Julie Andrews comes on the public address system singing “Do, Re, Mi.” As the bemused passengers watch in amazement, some 200 dancers begin to appear from the crowd and station entrances. Enjoy.

Good Evening
Got the chat line open, Brutus, Doug, ole-timer, talking about cog RR. Doug is riding home on the train. Weather is still chilly high in the 60s today. Should be 75. Banilla is waiting for the Tardis gang. S.J

I have been reading along with you guuys for awhile now. It seems like you all are an incredibly close nit group of friends. That is so refreshing to see in this day and age. You should all be proud of what you have. Now the reason for my first post on the "pot" as you guys call it. I agree. That was an incredibly fresh and uplifting video. I have been through more medical issues than any one person deserves including a leg amputation, diabetes, and most recently (early this year,) a succesfull kidney transplant so needless to say I realy appreciate it when I see things like that.
THANK YOU!

Fun video!
Welcome Ken - come join us The coffee is usually really good and we have a hot waitress AND a saucey wench around here somewhere
BIG storm ran through today, but cleared off by the time I got home. Finally got to run my trains again after what seemed like 2 months? Smoked myself out of the basement, lol! Mostly Lionel/K-Line A5 and Thomas Oh, they have a bunch of pallets at work that will be disposed-of soon, hope to grab some for wood for future layout. I think it's mostly white oak, actually?
Great chat tonight. Some good news for my wife, she does not have asthma. Old doc had been treating her for asthma without any pulmonary tests. New doc guessed that was a mistaken diagnosis and testing revealed that it was so. Too, she will be able to get transfusions outpatient now, beginning tomorrow. We hope to get more information in the next couple weeks and then develop a plan of attack on this problem. She does have GERD and the meds they prescribed can't be taken with her prescribed iron??? We'll have a call into the doctor tomorrow on that one. Thought the drug store would catch something like that?
Prayers for Jack's granddaughter, JimSP's family, Sir James, Miss Pam, Suzie-Q, and all the rest of us that need it for ourselves and our loved ones and friends.
Alright, Tardis is ready and I've got some beacons on the scope. Jack sounds like he could use some banilla, so we will run over a pint or two TTFN!

Re: COFFEE POT #8, for all to take a drink and chat. Welcome all posters. 4 yrs old and still going.
Thanks for the welcome! Over the last several posts I have read several posts regarding family medical issues. If I can spread a little hope here, I will be a happy camper. Each and everyone of us must spend the time and effort to find a medical team that we have the utmost belief and confidence in and that will lead to trust. I had spent the last 2 1/2 years having dialysis 3 times a week for 4 1/2 hours each time along with working a full time job. About a year ago my transplant team gave my cordinator a green light to change my status on the lidney transplant list from non-active to active. It took me more than 1 1/2 years to get to that point. Being non-active means you can build up time on the list but are not eligible to accept a kidney if one comes up. There was all kinds of conditions that I had to meet in order to become active. Had I not had the trust in this team, I don't think I could have puuled it off. Well in January of this year, I got the call. A kidney that matched had become available. The next morning I had the transplant. Well after several weeks the kidney still had not started working allthough all tests showed that it should have been. Well as time went on, I got more and more depressed. My team kept saying trust us. We will figure this out. After awhile I could however sense concern on thier part. Well after 3 1/2 weeks they did indeed figure it out. They did have to go back in and operate again, but that night I passed 23 liters of fluid in 24 hours. That is about 30 pounds of urine. Moral of the story, Medical science is an amazing thing. Keep your faith, pray alot, be honest with your doctors and by all means, if you don't feel comfortable with what they tell you or how things are progressing, find someone else and get thier opinion. Good luck to all of you and I will be thinking about each of you that I have read about.
Oh yeah, my new kidney is working as well as most peoples original kidneys do! Sorry about the super long read.

Lost night tonight. Literally - we are on Netflix and are working through the Lost series. Watched disc 5 season 2 tonight. Neat set up in that series to get multiple story lines woven together.
Welcome Ken.
Michrr714 - My wife's grandparents live in Houghten Lake, her parents in Stanton, and my parents in Lansing. I was watching a program on the science chanel the other day about the six degrees of connectivity. Something like you are on average six people who know people away from anybody in the world. I'm seeing lots of posts on this forum from people that live in places I've visited or know somebody who live there to start believing that there is something to that theory.
Later 'gator.

Good Evening all, Welcome to the many new persons, hope you stay around awhile. Still fighting the computer issues, but slowly getting the upper hand. We had a power failure Friday night, and lost the web capability. After many attempts on reset the router, still no go. Then the dreaded 2 hours with "Technical Support". Their resolution was to switch end of the telephone cord connecting the modem to the wall. Sure..... that's a good idea move a dresser cabinet and other furniture? I don't think so ! So they scheduled a technician to come out today. I continued to test at various time thru last night, still no go. By some miracle the sytem was up and running this morning!! Without anyone showing up! Now isn't that surprising. Couldn't reset the system until today. Now the only problem is speed. Our first Dial Up was faster than this is. I wonder if it is related to the fact that they just installed 'FIOS' in the past year, and can't convince me I need it. So seems like they are getting down "forcing" us. Think I will go with the competitor. Oh well. Many topics going trough discussion in the past few days. Can't believe the Hummer is being sold, going over seas. I mean people out here have trouble seeing over the steering wheel, can't image what that will be like. Must be some other reasons. More Later, Hope everyone has a great day!!

Welcome Ken, from a new member also. Here's hoping that you now have the upper hand on your medical issues.
I see on MTH latest shipping list I have a new loco somewhere in transit to me. The Spokane Portland & Seattle RS-3's from the 2009 Vol 1 catalog were on the list. Nothing like the delivery of a new engine to pump up the adrenalin.
And congratulations to the University of Washington's Womens Softball team in winning the NCAA National Championship with their victory over Florida last night. Had to put that plug in, U of W is my Alma Mater.

Hello all, Thanks for all the prayers. My niece after five days as an in-patient, and a complete change of medicines and therapists, came home a new girl. She's not out of the woods yet but after a year of struggle has a complete new outlook on life. Pat farming is my primary hobby. I raise four feeders each year and finish them for friends and family. My father has 50 hens that he sells eggs from. It is a hobby because in a good year I barely cover expenses.Between my son's place and mine we have about 30 acres that are tillable. We raise Hay, corn, small grain and we've been experimenting with soybean. What we don't feed our animals is sold.
By the way I got 200 bales from the 6 acres I cut. In a good year it would have been 500. My daughter is in a wedding on SIL side this weekend so wife and I will have grandkids most of the weekend. Lots of train running. Prayers for all that need them

Welcome Ken , always room for one more at the table. This is a good forum with friendly people, sure there is drama at times but I've yet to go to any forum and not find drama, part of life.
Doug M.--car exchange goes out to you this AM, maybe by Friday you should have it, along with some great Iowa sunshine! Did you watch the Cubs choke last night? Good grief.
Today is get the 4 Runner totally detailed, big road trip to North Dakota this weekend as my wife's brother is retiring this weekend, forty years as a Lutheran Pastor. He married us nearly 37 years ago so he must be OK! Picking up another sister & hubby as they are flying into Omaha from Denver, It is an extremely long and boring drive as they are in the Grand Forks area, will be nice to have company to share Norwegian jokes

Good morning all. Welcome Ken. More new folks makes it so much more interesting.
Banks, glad to hear the medical report is good for the niece. Sounds like you all have a nice little farming operation going there.
Plans are to go down east to Mom's today. Been real hot [95] yesterday and probably today. Was suppose to rain tomorrow but got moved to Friday. Guess all you north western Yankees are trying to hold back all the rain. I "topdressed" all the garden yesterday and worked it in with my potato rake. Got to plant more corn this AM so will have a later batch. Now I need the rain. Time for coffee and breakfast.
OH Bob, what is a Corvair FC [forgot to ask the other day]? I use to rebuild Corvairs. Had Monza's, a Spider and etc. Corviar made a truck that the side went down as well as the tailgate. Also had a van.
Have a great day. God bless all.
BTW: see Jim has changed his handle.
