Re: Sunday Photo Fun 05-24-09

I hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend.

Jim it looks like you are ready to have a thresheree there in Flyerville.  I'd be happy to loan you my manure spreader.  And I shutter to think what might be going on with Spankybird's layout.

Here are a few pictures of the new school building here in Wausau.  Its been a long time in coming.  Its finally finished - just before school is ready to let out for the summer.  The kids aren't too excited about it, but the city fathers are pleased at the way it was funded - a gift from the president of Wausau Widgets.  The old timers down at the coffee shop have been grumbling that they only had a one room school house and a path to the outhouse.  The best thing I can say is that a train runs past it.  That would have kept me alert when I was in school.

Enjoy the day and remember with gratitude those who have sacrificed for the freedoms we have today.

Here we have a "Blast From The Past". This dates back to 2001, prior to the club becoming a full time exhibitor at the S.D. Model RR Museum. We were a modular group and like most others we could be found "hither-n-yon" when space or places were available.

Re: Sunday Photo Fun 05-24-09

Nice shots all. Have a great Memorial day weekend...

Here's a few recent shots I've taken...

Latest shot of room with overhead light, fan, and as much of the layout as I can fit in...

A shot from inside one of two access openings with as much mountain as I can get in the pic...

A more recent water shot. When you forget to dust off the river, just call it ash from a nearby volcanic eruption...

I seldom shoot my waterfall because in 90% of the shots, it looks crooked. Here's it is in the background falling straight...

A very 'old' shot of a dear friend...

I finally finished carving one piece of my newest layout. I'm setting up my new room and working on sci-fi ideas. Progress is slow. The kids are having fun posing...

Re: Sunday Photo Fun 05-24-09

The Goodyear Blimp hovered over the Lionel Lines to shoot some video for ten the o'clock news.

My very trusty and reliable 224 and a short string of Lehigh Valley Hoppers for the inner main level loop.

On the outer loop the 6220 Bell Ringing Switcher has every last tank car I own in tow - two early post war tin plate models, five Sunoco two domers and Gulf single dome and the newly acquired two dome rocket fuel tank car followed by an SP red caboose.

On the upper level, my Dad's New York Central A-A has a string of post war 6464 freight cars to move. Two New Haven's, two New York Centrals, State of Maine and Boston & Maine, followed by a 6457 Tuscan Caboose.

My usual marginal video quality, but if you like post war Lionel Trains, I hope you will enjoy this video.

Finally got around to viewing this week's submissions.  Nice station, nice CPI shots, nice C&O layout, nice flamingos, nice cross section of pics.  Thanks everyone for sharing.

These are the doors that lead to the Imagination Station at the Steamtown National Historic Site, in Scranton, PA. This is a children's discovery center, with programs offered to kids aged 5 -10. Along with this mural of a steam train running through the woods, there are other attractions. Like this Pennsylvania Flyer train, from Lionel. More than electric trains here too, such as this Brio set up.
