Have fun, everyone.
N&W Y6b Mallet is being readied for road service by its crew. Fall colours here and there.
Selector,
Nice photo! I like the hint of fall in the trees. Here's a photo of the newly completed ceiling over my layout. it would have been much easier to do before the layout was started....
Don Z.
Research; it's not just for geeks.
Thanks, Don. Your handiwork is impressive. The ceiling and lighting are going to be a big help to you, I am sure. Looks good.

Crandall--
That is one HUNKER of a loco! Really looks good. Question--who produces that neat water tower in the background? Great photo!
Don--nice ceiling, GREAT lighting. And don't worry about putting it up after the layout got in--I still have to somehow fit in BACKDROPS! That's going to be nice and wicked, LOL! Get out the 'Creeper' again.
Question for both of you. I notice that the photos are taking up the full bandwidth on my computer. Is this something that happens with everyone on this new format, or is it just my computer being its weird usual self?
Nice work, both of you.
Tom

Selector, The hint of fall is just right.
Don Z. Nice work on the train room. I envy you all of that room.
Not much new on the BRVRR. It has been a busy summer and very little has been done on the layout. Things will pick up as the weather gets colder.
Here is a picture from my updated website of my grandson watching my version of the NYC Lakeshore Limited going by on the layout. Nathan is not quite three, but he is big fan of Thomas The Tank Engine and loves to watch the trains run on the BRVRR.
Keep the photos coming guys. This thread is a highlight of my week.

Hi guys,
I'm posting an old photo just to test out the software and see how things shake out.
Nice photo Crandell.

Thanks, everyone, for you generous compliments.
Tom, I don't know what to say. I use photobucket because it provides a nice full image size. The images so far all display a nice full size for me. I still have problems with the images with the bar saying it has been resized. Takes multiple clicks on different spots to get it to enlarge. Just as I type this, I am pleased that I get a wrap-around effect with the words. Had there been no image that enlarges during a reply, and I was just responding to an imageless post, I would have all my words running off the left side of the text box. Hopefully it can be fixed.
Chip, I may have seen that image before, but my recollection is very poor if that is the case. I like it a lot...well done. The grave is nicely rendered.
I haven't heard much from you. I hope you are well and doing well.
New power here on the WRS...
Here are a couple of hoppers I picked up a while back. They were both in the same package and were supposed to be different numbers, but somebody didn't get the message.

Looks like we're off and running again this weekend..... Crandall, nice, very, very nice!I have spent a bit of time detailing the yard track with the rusty Rails paint tool. Here is a before:And an after:Tomorrow is the Lakeshores Division Meet so I should have some great photos to share on Sunday (I hope).
Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO
We'll get there sooner or later!
Heres what I have done on the layout, I have redone. The upper part of the layout runs good. Ran out of track for the lower part. So I decided to start on my small scrap yard. I need to add some more scrap parts, and some people to make it look better. I know near the backdrop needs some trees. I hope to do that tomorrow. I have to go get the stuff for them.
Sorry about the pictures. Not the best lighting yet over the layout.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Jeff.. With a dab of black paint, just turn an "8" into a "3".

Robby P., I like what you are doing. I'll bet you are having fun, as well.
If your camera has manual settings, I can perhaps talk to you off line about how to get your images to brighten up a bit.
Your call.
Hmmm.
must the pictures on this page be so *H U G E*??
(LARGER than my computer screen?)
Can't the MR server automatically resize any picture so it at least fits wholey on the screen?

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
All right folks, way to hit the ground running w/ some AWESOME work!!!
On another forum, they're having a photo contest. My entries were:
For prototype:Caption: Norfolk southern F9A #4270 used to pull their business train along with another A unit and 2 B units parked inside their compound in Augusta during Master's week.
For HO and smaller:Caption: Norfolk Western GP35 #1306 rounds Lone Pine Curve on my desktop layout. The loco is an Atlas Classic model, the boxcar is by Atlas, and the scenery products are woodland scenics. the backdrop is blue construction paper w/ white, black, and grey crayon drawn on it.
For everyone who is complaining about the pics taking up the page, the website is resizing them for me.

Well Crandell, I just have bad lighting. Where I take my photos for eBay, and my work bench I have floresent ( I know, its spelled wrong). Those are much better shots!! I just have some junk lights up right now. I have some features on the computer, and on the camera I normally mess with.
I will have to shoot you a email next time.
Robby
Well, this is interesting. Some of the images appear full sized by default. While others appear as smaller images with a notice bar that they have been reduced in size and instructions on how to view the full sized image. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. For future refrence I am posting an older image from my Photobucket account, as I am curious to see how it displays. I also must say I am not too fond of the grey sillouette that appears in place of an avatar for those of us who have not posted one. I like the old way of just having the space blank, better.
OK, I get the "supersized" image...
I have figured out what is wrong with my brain! On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!
My contribution for the weekend
Selector, that's your best shot yet!
I don't have much this weekend, but here's a photo of one of my favorite pieces of 'machinery' on my layout...., I bought it at a trainshow back in the spring.
JaRRell
Ray, I really like the weathering on the engine in the second photo. Good job!
I have been playing around with screen resolution, and it looks like the forums site is best when viewed at a resolution of 1600 x 1200. Of course for most of us that means having to use a magnifying glass to read anything!
Still there are advantages to a lower res setting. One consequence, unintended I am sure, is that the advertising bar is scrolled completely out of site on the right hand side of the screen. I can live with that.

Lots of great photos already this weekend--Crandell & Jarrell, both outstanding!
In Firefox, I have to maximize the view each time I click on an image--the browser window gets smaller, of all things. So I thought the work-a-round would be to open the photo in a new window instead of a tab. However, when I do this, The images are frequently larger than the window, so I must then scroll both horizontally & vertically to see the image.
I guess the answer is just to view the smaller inline image and not try to look at it larger.
I'll try to get a photo up here this weekend; I've moved my existing layout into the garage loft and am beginning to put it all back together again. The table is ready for the extension, so maybe before long I can start making progress again.
I'm putting some tracks over a small river here. It's a lot lower than the one above. The surrounding scenery has a surface and some paint, but it won't get turf, flocking or trees until I put down a couple of more layers of Envirotex to get the water depth up a bit more.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Holy Cow, gang, I don't know whether it's the resolution in the new form that makes the photos HUGE, or ifr it's just the quality of the photos themselves, but this weekend's WPF is just SPECTACULAR from every single one of you!
Oh, and Jeff--don't worry about those handsome hoppers--if it makes you feel better, I've got 8 Accurail Rio Grande wood boxcars with the same number--I just sort them through the train, LOL!
Okay, here's my contribution--it's an all ESPEE one, this week. The City of San Francisco has been re-routed over Yuba Pass due to a slight mishap on Donner Pass. Anyhow, AC-8 #4181 is doing the helper honors to the COSF E-7's as they enter Yuba Pass tunnel. Kinda neat, because due to scheduling problems, the COSF is actually heading over the Sierra in DAYLIGHT, not it's usual WWII night run.
[BTW, the AC-8 is an Akane, so you KNOW this is posed--it could NEVER run as a helper to my BLI E-7's--by the time the BLI's got started on DC/DCC, the Akane would be whipping around the layout like a racehorse, LOL!
StebbyCentral: Liking the UP streamliner. Those cars brass or walthers?
Twhite: I like the AC. Nice addition in front of an E7, been wanting both engines for a long time now... I was looking through your photobucket early today, and I must say your layout is my hands-down favorite that I know of now. Superb modeling, indeed.

Chip, way back on February the 2nd good ol' 'Punxsatawney' Phil stuck his head out of his burrow and saw the shadow of a Democratic presidential candidate and, as foretold, we have indeed had the requisite six months of hot air; I hope that your photograph is indicative of the fact that this presidential campaign is indeed drawing to a close and is finally ready to be buried!

There has been some discussion here in the past few days proclaiming that this new forum was running slower than on the old one; I had some other issues but speed didn't seem to be a problem. This eve, however, I looked in on Weekend Photo Fun to see what kind of changes this new forum may have had over the last time I checked on things a couple of months back. Listen, I had to shave twice waiting for photographs to paint.
I'm having no speed problems at all with the whole new forum thing. I look in on a number of forums every day, hosted by different groups with different software. To be honest, I'm happy if they work. I'm not too concerned about the differences from one to the other. As I recall, we got about the same reaction here the last time there was a forum software change, and I'm sure it will happen next time, too.
But, and it's an even bigger but than my own, what is going on with the picture sizes? It's not just "some are larger, some are smaller." I was looking in here an hour or two ago, and Jarrel's steam shovel picture was small, while Tom's SP shot was huge. Now I'm back after eating a small HO-scale Dove Bar ice cream, and Jarrel's picture has grown, while Tom's has shrunk! This is just too weird, so I think I'll go run some trains or something.
very nice
