There is an estate sale on ebay, starts at $21,000 now at $13,000, looks like some good stuff, (maybe yes, maybe no) brass, hundreds of cars etc etc etc, books, blueprints, tools, collectibles etc etc. I would like to know the Actual cost of these items, The collection started in the 40's, NOW, remember, this "stuff" is now being sold on ebay, it will be interesting to see the results and maybe people will wonder what will will happen to all their "stuff" when they are gone(or going) and from certain comments on this forum some of people have a lot more "stuff" than this, seems sort of sad to see it all end up like this(although it could end up in the dump like a lot of layouts). I guess it's called reality.

Just go to eBay's trains section and sort by highest price first. http://tinyurl.com/37he4e Andre

That PSC SP AC-3 is probably worth $1500 by itself. The Sunset C-9 would probably fetch $300-330 There are a number of brass SP engines (I count 18 exclusive of the two mentioned above) whose total value I would estimate to be on the order of $6,000+. Since there are only 12 photos allowed, it's tough to determine the value of the rest. The stuff is definitely not junk just based on pictures. Andre

At least this lot has some really decent equipment in it, even if it is overpriced. I can't get over these eBay sellers who never learn that a lower starting bid attracts more bidders.

Just saw those photos on flickr, there does seem to be some nice brass along with other cars etc, now for a long drive to pick this stuff up??? This estate auction brings up the quandry: the brass looks as if it never left the boxes and some of the cars were never run, I'm trying to get my head around the enjoyment of owning these brass locos and sealing them away until they are sold at your estate sale (yes, I know, you can do anything you want, I just don't get it) just a comment folks will be intersting to see the results, also what independent shipping costs could be -magazines are heavy.

So often people overestimate the value of used MR equipment. Unless it is a hard to get item, most pieces are only worth a fraction of their original cost, even if the equipment is in excellent condition. You can see that for yourself if your LHS has a consignment shelf. Mine does and yesterday, I found a gold mine. About 20 NYC Pacemaker boxcars for $6 a pop. I bought a dozen of them and would have got more but saw there were some duplicate numbers. When I got them home, the couplers were all the correct height and they were weighted properly as well. They were as good as any RTR equipment I could have bought but because they were used, the buying public just isn't willing to spend anything close to original price.
