Suggestions for gluing / painting pewter detail items

I recently purchased some detail parts from Berkshire Valley.  They are made of pewter and require assembly and painting.

What are some recommendations for glue - anything special?

For painting, will the readily available Polly Scale and Floquil paints work well?  Should I prime the bare metal with anything first?

Thanks for any suggestions / advice!

Re: Suggestions for gluing / painting pewter detail items

I've used a thick CA such as Zap A Gap. It sets slow and if the peices are tedious to hold together some accelerator sets them instantly. I usually prime with an automotive primer usually the gray. I've used both Poly S as well as Flouquil.

I built the BV water colum years ago that contain a few cast metal pieces and it's held up fine. Been knocked off it's resin base a few times but the metal portion stayed together.
