The maw of the beast - with photos

T-Rex attacks Castle Canyon in a fit of rage as his thundering feet cast fear across the land!!!

The maw of the beast opens for the feast. Mr. Gutts Madder hangs on while defying the laws of gravity and being slammed into the mighty silver Phantom.

It's too late; the feast has begun and Mr. Madder succumbs to his unfortunate fate. His damaged boat remains.

T-Rex sets his site on the frantic boater tumbling headfirst to the green river below. It's a merciless day in Castle Canyon as the feast goes on. The second victim will surely perish!

T-Rex thunders off into the mountain terrain for now but will surely strike again some day.

The End...

"Paging Alan Grant.  Paging Dr. Alan Grant . . ."

Are you sure Castle Canyon isn't the Valley of Gwangi?

John Allen had a brontosaurus for a switcher on the G&D.And he was one of the most respected modelers [HO] of his time. The idea IS to have fun.

Perry,

I love your layout, but not with that thing menacing the occupants.Angry [:(!] Poor Mr. Gutts Madder.Sad [:(] Will there be a funeral?Angel [angel]

I have an idea. You see that box canyon in the second to the last photo? Well, you could build a large fence with gate across the canyon entrance, then lure the beast into the canyon and close the gate.Smile [:)]

Hello Perry:

I too think you have a fantastic layout.  However, given how the T Rex can walk on water, is he the dinosaur messiah?

Regards,

John O

Roger,

I remember engine #13, a stegosarus. I do not remember the brontosaurus. Was it bigger than the steam engines?

Who is in that raft on the falls, Marshall?  Will?  Holly?  Looks like a Routine Expedition to me!  Maybe you should get an Allosaurus named Alice to go along with Grumpy the T-Rex there!  The Valley of Gwangi was a good movie!

Hello Perry!   I hope that Boater had Afflack Insurance in case he's too hurt to work.Wink [;)]Wink [;)]Clown [:o)] You need a creature named Corvair-zilla on your layout to help protect the North against shipments of Grits from Roseyville courtesy of a Gent from there who uses the Corvair to sneak Grits past the Mason-Dixon line into the North to accomplish his mission.Wink [;)]Wink [;)]Cool [8D]Tongue [:P]Clown [:o)] Excellent photo's though. Take Care.

Re: The maw of the beast - with photos

What are the property values in that valley like? First there was an alien attack and invasion, now the T-rex has been back 2 times?

I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't want to buy a house in that valley... Whistling [:-^]

(But seriously, great job as always, I love reading these random "war of the worlds" type blurbs)

The Maw of the Beast - Final Chapter - I promise!!

Legendary men such as Judd Kodder, Sam Pike, and Gutts Madder, who once roamed Castle Canyon, have all since perished at the hands of their fate. Castle Canyon residents, who were once strong like the sturdy oak, are now frail like the fawn to the grizzly's jab. But worse than the grizzly, is T-Rex, born of the Gasping Desert and predator of all.

His has been a reign of terror, dominance, and fear. But with assistance from model railroaders around the world, T-Rex's doom is set in motion. The hardy breeds of model railroaders have brought forth enough imagination, weapons, and strategy to finally slay the beast.

Ideas of traps and fences in box canyons, to center-rail electrocution have all been detailed at the Shady Tree Saloon. Property values have already begun to rise in Castle Canyon while scenic railroad operations are returning to normal. The antics of T-Rex are ending and we can all return to the true meaning of HIGH RAIL TRAINS.

 Last photos and captions...

Sherriff Husky Budds lures T-Rex to the center-rail and simultaneously thrusts two poison-tip spears into him. Center-rail voltage burns the beast while multiple spear wounds bleed. Husky Budds and his pet skunk watch from a vantage point on Mescalero Pass.

The beast is in peril. The mighty grizzly returns to roam his native land!

From a distance, the roar of the beast is fading!

T-Rex has taken his last step and collapses into the history of Castle Canyon forever.
