Re: garden rr in model rr mag..
You can never have too much inspiration!
(You can, however, have too little space.)
Ever thought of using models in adjoining scales to attempt to force
perspective? Something like Z scale in the back of a N scale
layout, N behind HO, etc.

Re: garden rr in model rr mag..
I like the idea that MR is featuring alternative scales and modeling techniques besides the usual HO material in their magazine. It was similar articles in the past that got me to try Large Scale modeling. Although I model Large Scale indoors, try to be as close to scale as possible, and like to super-detail locos, rolling stock, and structures, many articles - whether about garden railroads, Lionel, or extremely-detailed prototypical-to-the-micrometer equipment - are interesting and contain useful information that helps me improve and increase my enjoyment of the hobby. If MR continues with their current trend of featuring alternative modeling techniques such as unusual gauges, minotity scales, and Large Scale layouts - both indoors and garden railroads - I will definitely renew my subscription.

i'm from the MR side of the drink, and i was one of the positive
people, GRR's afterall ARE still a MODEL of a railroad... I don't see
anywhere on the cover where it says N,HO and O scale only...its
alllllllll scales! and whether the article in MR is relevant to my
scale or not, it still might have a good top or trick or two, which
makes it worth reading, and inturn buying!

I see they finally had to lock the thread over there because of name bashing.
The last post did same "original thinkers"
In an old hobby of modeling trains, i often wonder if any thing new can
have be found.
I think its hard to come up with "fresh" stuff year
after year.

Re: garden rr in model rr mag..
I'll proably get in trouble for saying this but, in general it seems that those of us who are involved in the larger scales (O & larger) ARE MUCH More accepting of the smaller scales than the folks in the smaller scales are accepting of our "toys". Lets face it no matter what the scale (gauge?) they are all toys. I just have one question for those who don't see the value of all scales being featured in MR. WHy is the membership of the TCA larger than the NMRA.
