is the reactor already sold out everywhere?

Justrains is sold out already!!  That thing just came out a week ago or so.  Lionel must have really scaled back production so they don't over produce anymore.  I know we all have talked about them not making too much anymore, but now its for real!

Makes me want to pre order some stuff from vol II

Looking at the NEw Haven F-3's, the GG-1 set and teh Orbitor set.  I'd like the NP GP-9 set , but its just got too plain a consist.

Anyone else pre-ordering this time that didn't before?

Re: is the reactor already sold out everywhere?

My local LHS, R Hobbies, in La Mirada, CA took my preorders for the Hogwarts add-on pack. I picked that up last month and heard it is sold out. I had months before placed my pre-order for the Nuclear Reactor which I picked up last week. He had one additional reactor left last week. I went ahead and pre-ordered the Orbitor set, the hotsauce car, and the Polar Express backdrop. I have decided to do preorders on something that I really want. On the other stuff that is a maybe, well.....it is probably better for my budget.

Yes I pre ordered the NS Oil Can set, and thinking I'd pick up the add on 3 pack at York?  No way they only made 500 add on sets.  I was however lucky enough to snag the last one from Trainworld for $130.

I'm starting to feel real lucky to have found the 38303 Tuscan GG-1 last week at Hiawatha hobbies  for $195.

Re: is the reactor already sold out everywhere?

Don't know about availability about the new one but I have one of the chrome dome original version.  Probably my favorite accessory.  The flashing reactor lights, the moving loading arm, watching the magnet pick up and drop a steel pellet in the marble maze interior, radioactive pellets and the blue light as the glow-in-the dark reactor pellets are unloaded into a waiting gondola.  This accessory has it all!  Lots of visual appeal, action and "neat" factor built in.  Most of it is made out of metal but there are plastic parts as well.  Might not be the best thing for young kids but if you are thinking about it,  I'd say go for it.  Fits in well with the AEC and Area 51 series or any space age and military cars.

Re: is the reactor already sold out everywhere?

Dennis,

Certain items are stocked, not only by availability, or as pre-ordered, but also by regional popoularity.

My Lionel Chessie U30C diesel, though an older item, had to be ordered from a shop in Penna. this past late March, because that particular RR was not from this South Eastern New York local.
The only portion of the Chessie System would have been the B & O RR in Staten Island, N.Y.C., N.Y., through New Jersey, years ago.

Hi O-Guage,

Did you ever get a reactor?  It looks loke a pretty cool accessory.  Lionel still has them for sale on the store portion of their web site, but they charge list price for everything.

Re: is the reactor already sold out everywhere?

I think I may be getting one for X mas, not 100% sure, but think so any way.  Also found out they have them at Train Express in Indy, so if I miss out I could try to get one there.  Being an ex Navy Nuke, I kind of like the AEC stuff and wish I had gotten more of the early releases.. oh well, maybe some will come my way!

Yea, like most I try to stay away from the list pricing, it hurts to much!
