Larry:  I think New York is trying to get something together to require trucking companies who operate in the state to install "truck specific" GPS in all the trucks that run in the state, to reduce the number of bridge hits and wedged trucks.

We have a database of directions to get to customers in our Qualcomm system, but they are only as good as the guy putting them in.  Example:  One might have 'at third light, turn left.  What they forget to tell you is that after the directions were written, the state installed one or more lights between the intersections, which makes life interesting.  I keep reminding people to add street names to clarify things.

Too bad the exam wasn't that easy! My professor has an obsession with the natural log (lnx), which makes things difficult.

Yes, I never had to work with natural logarithms, but I used unnatural common logarithms when calculating how much of the desired ion was present when I was taking quantitative analysis. We had a nice little table of four-place logs in the lab workbook, and would add and subtract the proper logs as required.. Now, of course, the student would simply run the numbers into his calculator and come up with the answer.

I think that I was told why e was chosen as the base for natural logs, but I do not remember the reason. It always seemed to me that it is unnatural to take an irrational number for such work.

Now, can you bring us some nice weather on the Wasatch Front?

Good Friday the 13th to everyone.  Hope everyone had a very good evening and is ready to have a good Friday. 

Coffee, oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple, apple and grape juices are freshly made this morning.  There's also hot cider, hot chocolate and hot water for tea this morning.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  doughnuts, long johns, caramel pecan rolls, cinnamon rolls, bagels and bear claws, along with bacon ,sausage, eggs, for your breakfast this morning.

I'll be heading out in two hours for my doctor appointment, the cardiovascular doctor, for my yearly checkup with him.   Appointment is for 9 a.m., so I should be back in plenty of time to get our Friday Fish Fry going. 

We're starting out with a temp of 41 degrees this morning, and it's supposed to be a sunny day, going for a high in the low to mid 60s this afternoon.  We haven't had a 'killing frost' yet, just a few mornings with patchy frost.  Willy, could we be experiencing Indian Summer, anyway?

Good morning from Carolina and thanks for breakfast. At present, 51 and rain, with clearing later. This storm has been something else. A friend in Norfolk told me that they had 75 mph winds there and a number of trees in her neighborhood were down. Paula, I hope your Dr visit results in good news and you get home quickly. HOO HAW  ;   being one and two retired truck drivers . We invested in common sense and it returned dollars to us.  Never needed (GPS )  ~~ side loads gave you lots of clearance  under  13.5ft. or less. CBR sure helped a bunch .  Every day was a defensive driving class for us and in 48 yrs . only 2 (two) non chargable incidents .  One at a traffic light , 4 wheeler didn't like the brake lights on trailer  , so tried to take em' out.  Two ~ moving at road speed  and pickup tested safetybar on trailer ( it worked as advertised) .  Sliding tandem trailer bogeys helped make short turns . Yep we saw more than a few dumb  ( drivers). LOL                                         Respectfully,  Cannonball & Shirl

Good afternoon, all.  Well, got home from the doctor's office.  I have to go back on Nov. 25th, for two tests:  another ECG, and a carotid ultrasound.  He didn't like what he heard/did hear when he listened to both left and right side carotids.  That will be on a different floor from his office.  Then, I go back to him on Dec. 18th, to get the results. 

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way.  On the menu:

FISH:  1.  Cod;   2.  Perch;  3.  Flounder;  4.  Haddock;  5.  Halibut;  6.  Salmon patties;  7.  Shrimp (both jumbo butterfly shrimp and popcorn shrimp)  (And an order of gold fish for you, Mookie!)

SIDE DISHES:  1.  Baked beans; 2.  Corn on the cob;  3.  Fries;  4.  Hush puppies; 5.  Macaroni & cheese;   6.  Breaded fried mushrooms;  7.  Baked cornbread; 

DESSERTS:  1.  Chocolate cake w/white icing;  2.  Yellow cake w/chocolate icing;  3.  Apple, cherry, peach and pecan pies.

She won't be here in the Cafe/Diner, but I'm baking a special doggy birthday cake for our Winter Brandy, our half Husky/half German Shepherd, who is 14 years old today.  She's been a good doggy girl and we've had her since she was 4 1/2 months old(we got her on March 27th.).

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  It looks like it's going to be a very beautiful day here in Louisville.  I haven't heard the temp this morning, but it doesn't feel bad, inside the house, or outside (took the doggy out a little bit earlier).  Our high today is to be in the upper 60s, most likely 68 degrees, with plenty of sunshine

Coffee is brewing, fresh oj, orange/tangerine, apple, pineapple and grape juices are freshly made, along with hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot water for Larry and the rest of our hot tea drinkers.  

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, hash browns, tater tots (giving you a choice of taters this morning), along with bagels and bear claws.

I hope everyone of you has a very beautiful day today, and also hope you all stay safe and sound, whatever you have on your agenda for today.  Take care, and I'll see you all later tonight, for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.

Anyway, got back to the house yesterday about 3, was nice relaxing evening.  Now, if I could just not wake up at 4am, I'll be happy.....

Seeing as I'm up, will start up a country breakfast, eggs any way you want them, bacon, sausage, griddle is fired up for pancakes and home fries (Lee Hi style).  Also have juice, toast and milk ready for all.

Trainfest is in Milwaukee this weekend, my dad and I are going later today, should be a good time, see if I can't find some more Wisconsin Central equipment, and buy some more modeling tools.

Good Morning----I could use some barrels of raw caffeine this morning

Been awhile since I was on here---been doing the running around thing for work and all that--this morning getting ready to do a bunch of weekend seminar thingees at the university up here.

We've been having quite the string of sunny days for November. normally we see nothing but a few 'incidents' of sun--if even that! We usually get our semi permenant cloud bank and that's it---This sun in November bit makes for some nice walking days-----

Cw thanks for breakfast.Well its Tinora against Patrick Henry next friday in the football playoffs.Matt had fun at the game last night.We are going to find some trains this morning.Then tonight we are going to help grandma celebrate her birthday.Just save us some pizza for a midnight snack please.

Mornin. 56 and cloudy in Carolina this morning. At least, the rain stopped. Not a whole lot to report, but tonight is BBQ ribs and seafood night, so I won't be in tonight. Everybody take care and stay warm and safe,

A balmy 38 right now, with the threat of rain (leftovers from Ida?).  No railroad for me this weekend, so I'm enjoying three days completely off, in a row.  Polar express kicks off next weekend, and I'll be on the first trips.

With breakfast out of the way, it's time to get started on my list for the day.
