Re: Elliot's Trackside Diner, Mark XIX

 Good Morning Everyone,

on this side of the Big Pond, it was only about 20 monsters, who showed up for trick or treats. Halloween has no old tradition in Germany and was "imported" some 10 years ago, but became very popular in no time at all. I have a feeling that it is on the decline now, as less and less kids show up. The protestant church in Germany is not really happy, having to share their "Reformation Day", commemorating Martin Luther, with little monsters, aliens and whatever seems to be a fashionable guise each year.

We still have fair weather on this November 1st. Todos los  Santos is usually a ra*ny day, the start of the winter monsoon season known as Schmuddelwetter to all Northerners in Germany.

Flo, I have coffee and - wait, is there some pie left? No? Barry, Todd - they all ate (used) it up? I tell Petra to make some more Strudel next week...

A peaceful day to all of you!

Btw, there is no chance to cover all the debts - the real estate market is so depressed that you can just give your house away for a little more than a handful of peanuts. People don´t buy "used" houses.

Good morning all:

I hope everyone remembered to set those clocks back and hour.

I had a busy day yesterday; installed a new fiberglass bedroom door in a house built in 1880, went to the LHS and picked up a couple new fire trucks, and then I dug two new piers for my girlfriends sinking garage.  The first pier took 5, 80 pounds bags of 5,000 psi cement, today I need to pour the second pier so next weekend I can start leveling the roof of the garage.

Re: Elliot's Trackside Diner, Mark XIX

Good earlier than I thought morning. Forgot to set the clocks back last night. Brenda still doesn't know. I'll wait to tell her.

TomWright- ........yesterday.

Lee- Ouch! But I always say, as long as I'm living in the house, paying taxes and have no intention of selling, they can appraise me at a buck ninety five. When I go to sell, now that's a different story.

I forgot who commented on the speed of this year, I must agree with you. Just don't know where it went. My favorite holiday is just around the corner, three weeks now I guess. Whew, doesn't seem possible.

I don't know how many Trick or Treaters we had. I worked to pay the candy bill, but not much candy left over. Suns out looks beautiful. Probably mow for the last time, mainly to chop leaves. Work in the train room, clean up in the office and something else I'm sure. I do know one thing, I'm gonna try real hard to get a nap.

Have a Great Day!!!

Just for the record, I didn't start this one!  I might finish it (where's my catapault?), but I didn't start it!

Re: Elliot's Trackside Diner, Mark XIX

Mornin' everyone........ Shhhhhhlllllliiiiiiiiiiiiipppppp...!!!

Ah jeez Chloe, I see Barry and Philip are at it again.  I'll have the #2 special with bacon, homefries, over easy on the eggs, and a double order of sour dough bread this morning.  Yes I want my usual dark roast coffee in a R&GV mug.... without any pie chunks in it please!  Think I'll have it at the back booth to stay out of the line of fire.

Happy All Saints day!

I slamed my big toe into a piece of funiture walking around in the dark a few nights ago.  Didn't think much about it after saying a long string of those words I save for very special occasions.  Didn't bother hardly at all for a day, but the last couple it has gotten very sore.  Probably broke it.  Today I get to walk around the museums with a bunch of Boy Scouts...........  Should be a fun day.

Just got a call from the committee chair of the troop.  He said they will meet me at the museum as the scouts are all going to meet at a Thruway Exit that makes it closer for several of the families, they will have lunch at that place where you get change back with the indigestion.......  Then head out for the museum.  Hope they don't forget FRED!

Should be a great day for the field trip.  Currently 48°F here in the Finger Lakes under sunny skies with a high later of 50°F.  A light wind from the west at 7 mph will mean that it should just be a nice crisp Fall day here.

Ulrich I feel terrible for you having a nice home that you can't get its real worth out of......

Best get a move on and get everything packed for the day.  Catch you all later!

Re: Elliot's Trackside Diner, Mark XIX

Good morning, All.  I haven't been in  for a few days.   Too much busy stuff going on.

We went to a party at my brother's house  last night.  The theme was zombies.   Now it is time to get ready for my wreath party on the 20th.  The time change will kill this next week, because I wake up at the regular time.  4:00 is just too early.

Barry,  Thanks for the railfanning.  I enjoyed the photos.

Lee, Things are messed up here, too.  Hopefully, your property taxes will go down with the value.

Later, Sue

Re: Elliot's Trackside Diner, Mark XIX

 Good morning.

It's 54 and sunny. The high will be around 73 and it will be sunny.

I intended to get on earlier but cable problems made that impossible. The local system was down for almost three hours this morning with just brief periods of operation and that wasn't doing my blood pressure any good. On the layout front I've been doing some minor paint work on the new freight cars I picked up yesterday. I'd like to give my cars the appearance that they have reflective safety stripes on them but I don't have anything that has the proper shaped hole to use as a stencil, so I'm just using a paint pen to make to make some dashes along the sides. Best I can do for now.

Re: Elliot's Trackside Diner, Mark XIX

Hello Diners!

I actually did a few things on the layout which has been mostly idle with all the other stuff going on lately. I posted some pix of the steel mill in WPF.

Here's a shot of the doodlebug passing a vegetable garden. Perhaps, some veggies are needed in the diner to be "heart smart" ......... If Ryan would show up, he woul probably have a great recipe ....... A good alternative to that would be for Ray to use his new range/oven to prepare a veggie dish. He could do that when not making cookies ........ hmmmm ...cookies....on second thought, Ray... forget the healthy stuff. ..Feel free to bake some cookies......... well, another thought....... Ulrich, do you have any strudel?
