Re: COFFEE POT #12 [October], for all to take a drink and chat. Welcome all posters. 4 yrs old and still going.
Good morning all,
It IS another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana. I got a very nice e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend, and the long timers here know how that always makes my day. Fifedog, thank you for the reply. Doug M., welcome to the sidelines! If you want the best view of the game, be a referee sometime.
Keep on training,

Chief,
I guess that is one way to look at it.
I am really upset right now. As I came up the street this morning, I noticed a box hanging out of my mailbox. I had to push against the mailbox just to pull it out because it was jammed in there. The box is smashed, and the 651 baggage car inside got crushed as well. Both sides of the body are smashed, and the 4 pins that hold the body to the frame were pushed out completely. When I bough the car, it was perfect. I took pictures, and I am waiting for the postmaster to return my call. I'll try to find another 651 while I wait.

Good luck. They may claim it was not insured. If they do, tell them poor handling by their employee is no excuse. The pull a Chief Eagles and go to Postmaster's District Manager.
Fifey, sorry. Forgot to mention, no word on my charger request. That must be my answer. They are hurting like all bussinesses. We are not doing shows or Grand Openings.
Off to County Commissioners. Later

Well, I'm glad the last 24 hours are over. No solid foods yesterday then the dreaded two liters of magic motion potion to get the plumbing working for this morning's slim camera/tube procedure. The worst part of that whole exam is drinking that amount of magic water in such a short period of time and not planning on doing anything for a couple of hours ........... Great staff this morning, they make it easy, results this Friday as 3 small polyps removed & cauterized. I know, I know---should have been done a long time ago. I'm looking for a MTH Standard Guage white Christmas train, anyone know the numbers? I have all the catalogues down stairs and I just need to sort through them, but I'm lazy. I have not seen the train but a friend has one and loves it, I'm thinking about putting it out in our new 4 season room this December with a new tree, one can never have too many Christmas trees or trains. We still haven't had any frost so the annuals and perennials continue looking good around here, We truly have had a wonderfully warm fall with little rain, we did get rain this last Thursday, Friday & Sauturday, that will slow the harvest down for a few day. Time for some REAL coffee

Chief,
Thanks for the tip. I want my $18.99 out of the carrier's pocket along with an apology. There is no excuse for treating packages like that. I found another 651, but it'll be $70 before shipping. The one that USPS destroyed was close to like new and only $18.99.

RT,
Thanks for the link, but I got the issue resolved. I appreciate the the fact that you took the time to look for me. Thanks for that.
Well, I got tired of waiting for the postmaster to call, so I took the car, invoice, packaging, and photos of the unopened box down to the PO. The postmaster was there, so we discussed the problem. He said that the carrier that was responsible was a sub for the normal carrier, and that this isn't the first time this happened with this sub. He offered to purchase the car from me for the $18.99 that I paid, but I told him that the money isn't important. I explained that the rough handling of the package was what bothered me. He assured me that he would discipline the sub. I thanked him for hearing my side of the story and came home. I straightened the damage, and I'll just clean the rest up and move on with collecting.

Dennis, sorry to hear about the tragic death of your friend's father. We can't explain why these things happen but all we can do is offer prayers for the family. R.I.P.
Good afternoon all, went to TTOS meet yesterday. Best buy of the day looked like a MTH Railking Rio Grande steam engine 4-6-0 proto 2 with wood burning tender in excellent shape for $200. Original price was around $350. Table sales less than last month probably because sellers are holding off for Cal Stewart meet next month. Just a guess.
Cool weather continues all this week week with temps in the 70's predicted. Good for working in the garage and running trains. Got a little advice from a couple of guys on the other forum about how to take shell off of an MTH premier N&W Y6b 2-8-8-2 but decided to hold off for a while. Put a drop of crazy glue on screw ends of pick up roller assemblys to keep them from backing out. Works so far. My N&W Class A 2-6-6-4 is different. Screw heads are on the outside of engine which makes it easier to tighten.
Helping wife get food baskets ready from our church food bank for the next two weeks for people in need. Good excersise toting those heavy boxes but have to be careful of the back when lifting.
Ran trains this morning after walk and gave them a good work out with no mishaps other than one traction tire needed replacing on the N&W Class A.
Have to pick up grandson at school today. Always a zoo with all the people picking up kids. Too bad kids can't walk to school like we did but too many wierdos in the world today.
Have a good week all,
Ray

Good Evening all. Thanks for all the kind words. In the end, his dad was blessed with a good life for a good number of years. He always had a smile every time I saw him. He had a collection of Hudsons and each time he'd drive up, those whitewalls were polished, chrome shined, and the perfect colors of the paint let you know the owner was proud of it.
Ray, I would suggest using Blue Locktite on your screws. You apply a small amount to the threads and it keeps them locked in. Definitely use the Blue verses the Red. Red needs heat to unlock it, where as Blue will release with a hard twist. Works better than Super Glue as it won't mar the finish and is easily undone.
Well, had a long case this morning and all worked out fine. Just a lot of surgery on one patient. Also got to do some teaching for some medical students rotating through. Rumor has it that ours is the best rotation that Medical College of Georgia has. We only take a few at a time, but introduce them to a lot of innovative practices. While there is a lot of uncertainty with the future of medicine, they all have a very good outlook. Problem is getting them to complete certain specialty groups. Over 60 percent of Cardiovascular fellowships go unfilled due to a dim future.
Spoke with a friend up in Delaware tonight. Been a long time since talking to him. He's a retired county cop from NJ and has a load of great stories. Seems a lot of his buddies from North Jersey are in his area and they all get together for Golf, etc. He has also been through a lot and is the type to always help out. As some here know, I don't talk much on the phone. Probably should do more of that as too many friends are a long way off and you never know when you'll get the next chance.
Anyway, hope that everyone has a great night. Wife and kids are in bed, dog is waiting for me to get in the bed....he will jump up and lay next to my feet after I lay down.
God Bless, Dennis

Hello all, Dennis, Sorry about your loss Tried GRITS for breakfast Saturday, not bad. I will add them to my breakfast rotation. Sunday was the last Hillclimb of the season. Frst time in about 10 years I'm not in the points race in either of my classes. Oh well, I've got at least ten years on the competition. I fell good just doing it. The end of hillclimb season brings on the urge to go hunting and get some inside the house stuff done, including TRAINS. Still have to get the head off the Massey Ferguson and try to figure out why this is the second time the head gasket has blown since I rebuilt the engine It's past my bedtime. i was cheking Ebay and couldn't resist stopping in for a cup, hope it don't keep me awake. Prayers for all who need them

Morning All, Just stopping by for a quick cup. The Mrs. is home from Texas, she had a nice visit with her sisters but came down with a cold. Hope she gets better soon. You know what they say, if Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy. Jon - glad to hear the test is over. Prep is the worst in my opinion. Guess I'll need to have one again soon. It's been about 5 years. Yuck!
Got a letter in the mail from Baltimore City, seems as though one of their stop light cameras snapped a picture of my car running a red light. If I had the energy and time, I'd go to court because the light changed bam - bam from green to yellow to red just as I crossed the line at the intersection. Not worth the trouble of fighting it because a picture is worth a thousand words. Still it is aggravating because that's $$$ I won't have to spend at the train show.
Well I better get going, I have an early meeting at work. Take care, Mitch

Mornin' boys. Partly cloudy and 48 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Pretty soon will have to bring "Benji", our christmas palm tree, inside. Figured out that it was the Pride of Baltimore II, heading down to the Annapolis boat show, that I saw on Sunday. Made an arrest last night for grand theft auto...young man tried to tell me he bought a Pacifica for $100...found himself pressed againt the driver side of said vehicle.
Chief - Thanks for the look-and-see just the same. Think I'll wait until after the Annapolis show Friday.
Banks - Can you see rail from where you are climbing...? Pics?
jonadel - Here's hoping your troubles are behind you...
mitchie ---> Say CHEESE!!!
...yuz guyz make it sooooo easy somedays...
