MY loco Gp40 bachmann dcc board its making a grinding noise, can anyone help me?

My GP40 which is by bachmann and has dcc on board. the loco will run when it wants too. I took the shell off the loco and looked at the gears and the move and then the stop moving when you tell it too go > or <. IF there is not lot here they i m saying go to youtube and type in guitar446. after you can get back with me on the post i made here.   thank you chris

 The sound you're hearing is a common complaint about the cheap Bachmann decoders. So is the erratic operation. NCE sells a drop-in replacement for this type decoder. I would just rip out the decoder and hardwire in a Digitrax DZ125 decoder.
