CSX National Gateway

What is this? Is it something with Intermoodal? I saw it on CSX's website, and thought I would put it on here.

Anyone care to elaborate?

Re: CSX National Gateway

From a quick perusal of the site, it looks like an intermodal corridor for double-stack traffic...

Re: CSX National Gateway

First, it's interesting that social and economic benefits are monetized; yet no dollar figure is put forth in my quick scan as an ask for state and federal funding in a public-private partnership.  Could this be a reaction to the possible availability of stimulus funds or an appeal for smart planning?

The relatively short intermodal lanes of the National Gateway network is surprising.  In addition, these lanes do not extend to Chicago, Atlanta, Florida, or the Gulf Coast.  What happened to the A, B, and C lines; or is that another layer of service?

The term "National Gateway" sounds like it involves a great depth of vision, but I'm not sure about its scope of service either . . .

Re: CSX National Gateway

csxs national gateway and ns's heartland corridor are both designed to make room for doublestacks through the southeast. In North Baltimore csx is working on the new intermodal yard. The intermodal trains can go to Deshler (B&O)or Fostoria(C&O) to turn south.Nice to see something new built by a railroad then torn out.

stay safe
