OK not really.
But just when I think I have everything, they go and produce something I just can't live without or have been looking for for years.
Last month it was the New Haven C425s and this month it's GP39-2s. Not only are they doing a run of Reading ones, but Delware and Hudson Lighting Stripes too!
Good thing I have 6 to 7 months to save for up my for them.

I agree totally. In the last year it seams like they can sense when I have a few bucks. They got me for an MP15DC, 3 GP40-2's, an SD-35, and a B23-7.

Save money, be prototypical: buy the Reading ones, run them for a while, then repaint them as D&H!

beware the curse of consumerism and its minion buyers remorse. I only have three Mantua loggers. I keep looking for one that runs good. BILL

Between ATLAS and Athearn we Reading fans have a plate full. Let's not forget the ATLAS HH660 in CNJ they may produce, and with sound.
For Reading fans and CNJ have we seen anything from Proto 2000? past the GP-7 and GP-30???
The Proto 2000 SW 1200 and the SW 900 are all engines that Reading had and yet they have not done them in the Pullman Green (SW 900 only) or Yellow and Green or all Green versions for the SW 900 and SW 1200. I would consider them without full length handrails and add them myself. CNJ had these in at least three color schemes. Beyond the CNJ FM switcher we have seen very little. I am greatful for this switcher having said this.

D&H actually got 2 batches of 39's, the 7400's, many of which were repainted into various "blue-dip" schemes, the other batch were new and were numbered in the 7600 series and were all originally lightning stripes. I believe the Atlas units are 7402 & 7406, both blue-dips. To model the 7600's, the fuel tank needs to be lengthened and the trucks (sideframes) need to be updated to Blomberg B's.

I would be happy if they would just rerun the ones they've already done so I don;t have to keep scouring eBay and missing out because people bid them up past original MSRP. Reading first generation power has been fairly well covered - Athearn needs to redo the RS-3's with more numbers for sure, but we've had the Baldwin switchers from Stewart as well as all the F's, P2K has given us GP7's, S-1's, and FA's. An early EMD switcher would be nice, and maybe the odd S-2 or so.

D&H's 7400 series GP39-2s came from the Reading. The units' leading 3 was covered, often hastily, with a 7. The 7600s were bought new. Atlas's first GP39 run were blue dips 7400s. The new run is Lighting Stripes in the 7600s. Atlas is definitely a boon to D&H modelers, having produced nearly every 4 axle Alco and GE units D&H had. Many have been done in multiple paint schemes as well, including one offs. The script lettered RS11, Gray Ghost U23B, and "Safety Scheme" RS36 spring to mind. P1K makes the RS2 missing from Atlas's line, and Stewart the 6 axle Alcos.

WARNING! Time to get on a soapbox
Posts with subject lines like this and irresponsible and should be removed. They are misleading, especially with the number of newbies this forum gets. Take a recent thread about who makes quality engines. Some newbie sees this thread with the title "Atlas is EVIL" and could mistakenly think the Atlas is poor quality or has poor customer service - both of which couldn;t be further from the truth.
Stop using misleading subject lines or subject lines that are either incomplete or inaccurate!

I REALLY think you are blowing that out of proportion. One look at the first post and you can clearly see that 'evil' is not meant in the "their products are shoddy" sense at all. Manufacturers ARE 'evil' when they release 10 new products that you absolutely need to go with your preferred era and prototype, and you've only budgeted for 4. Please, take a little personal responsibility and READ. If you simply skim the subjects and don't read the text, are you really goign to take away that Atlas makes junk products? I doubt it. You will either think "hmm, i heard atlas products are really good, why does this person say that" and read the thread, or perhaps "I was thinking about buying Atlas, maybe I betetr see what's up first", in either case you'll be reading the actual message text and realize quite quickly that Atlas makes good products, just sometimes too many at the same time!

I sure don't know if Atlas is EVIL or not but I do know that they haven't made any N-Scale SW1500s of late!

IF they ever release a SW1500 as far as I am concern they would be very evil..
Evil enough for me to buy at least 4..

Nothing irresponsible with having some fun. If anyone reads the subject and is really interested in finding out about the subject matter, they'll enter the thread and read. In this case if they were curious and read this thread they'd find that people like Atlas engines and buy quite a few of them. That's positive.
Another thing the person would find by reading this thread is that some people have no sense of humor.
