New Window Strip for passenger car

I bought a set of passenger cars on ebay and one of them had a window strip missing. Of course this wasn't mentioned. I decided to see if I could make a replacement. I scanned the one window that remained into photoshop. It wasn't a very good image so it required quite a bit of editing to remove the background and to sharpen up the window images. Here is what it looked like when it was finished.

Then I reversed it left to right and printed it on a sheet of Avery 8665 Clear Full Sheet Labels. I got a couple pieces of frosted window plastic from Olsen Supply. All I had to do was peal the backing off my image and paste them onto the frosted window plastic, trim and insert. I did have to use a tiny bit of masking tape on the inside ends of the new window to secure it into place. It looks pretty good. Time will tell if it will hold up.

Here is a picture of the new window in place.

Re: New Window Strip for passenger car

Terry,

Your reproduced window strip looks better than the original.

Your silhouettes are lighter, than the originals and they appear realistic, as if the people are sitting away from the windows.

Very good job.

Ralph

Thanks, they are actually darker than what shows in the picture. I think I had the voltage up too high when I took the picture. I don't think they look as good as the originals, but the sure look better than empty window holes.
