INSTALL SOUND AND DCC... IS IT HARD? SPEAKER UPGRADES

HI EVERYONE!  I HOPE THAT ALL OF YOUR TRAINS ARE RUNNING ON-TIME.  I WANT TO PUT SOUND AND A DCC DECODER IN MY 4-6-2 PACIFIC.  THE PARTS AND LABOR FROM MY LOCAL HOBBY PRO IS $220.00.  HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE PLUG AND PLAY SYSTEM WITH QSI.   IS IT SOMETHING THAT A JACK SIX PACK DO MYSELF, OR IS IT EASIER TO USE SOUNDTRAXX? ALSO IS THERE A WAY TO GET A SPEAKER UPGRADE.  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS.

If you are talking about an Aristo Pacific and its a new model with the plug n play socket, then it could not be simpler to do it yourself. I'm pretty sure all you have to do is open up the tender and pop the chip in.

If its an older model w/o the pnp socket then there would be quite a bit of wiring and soldering to do.

Better speakers? Look here at the 8 ohm ones in 2, 3.3 and 4 inch sizes -

I believe that the speaker wire may have to be run separately to the tender.

The socket makes it very easy.

The stock aristo speaker is surprisingly good for as small as it is. Contact Johnathan at Electric Model Works for a large selection of very good speakers.

I have an older Aristo 2-8-2 with a Vanderbilt tender. I installed a Sierra sound system in the tender including all switches and wiring. It did require some soldering, that was a few years ago.

And you could still add DCC as requested into the socket in your Mikado, and leave the Sierra in place, of course the Sierra would be redundant in this case.
