UP Locomotives in Colton, CA

Traveling along I-10 next to the Colton yard of UP, a long line of motive power can be seen for miles (It seems like). Most are in UP colors, with some SP thrown in.

Does anyone know if these are locomotives in service just waiting to be utilized, retired, or just stored due to the economy?
