That was a very nice looking layout. It reminds me of the trains I rode from Roma To Firenza last year.

It looks to me that the one large steam engine is a Mallet-type.  Very nice!

OK, even if it is not easy to "liquidate" the E 464 in two words ... these small locos have replaced E 646 and E 424 in regional service with shuttle trains, have a single cab and a small driving seat rear maneuver: they have 4 three-phase asynchronous motors for 3 MW of power input,, cooling water and it is present the electric regenerative braking and reostatica.
The head of the cab have the 'coupling automatically Schaefenberg, except that the first two units that have traditional coupling, the E 464 have a small luggage compartment, designed to "train and bike," but it.is little used.
The E 464 are currently under construction and will become the largest group of Trenitalia, are assembled at the ADtranz of Vado Ligure, the E 464 are in service since 1999 ..

Doctortreno ( one of the biggest italian model railroader) helped me in this answer.

Next on line its model railway layout!   The trains of the past

Re: A great collection of model trains

Yes, these  are trains that runs in Italy or europe. I think you have never seen one of them run in USA.

But , I have one Union Pacific on holiday on my railway layout!!!!

The Union Pacific 141 had been built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelpia and ... Lima of Chicago, it thinks... there is a locomotive factory that was called Lima ...
These went all around the world, because they travelled to the following of Release  U.S. troops . In Italy, unfortunately, arrived "poor sister," the 736, hate from drivers  because it considered  real war machines, built "to lose, "while in France, Belgium, Algeria and other states reached the 141 real ... not just after the war France ordered the powerful American industry about 200 of these locomotives, which  have served until years '70.  (this story has been written by doctortreno collaboration)
