 Can those who have the Athearn SW1000/1500s let me know what color the cab interiors are

I normally don't let interiors concern me but there is a lot of glass area on these models and you can see the interiors fairly well

 without knowing what your prototype did i would have to say that you can't go wrong with industrial green or gray.  and if you are modeling the Illinois Central from the 60's, forget the safety first slogan on the sun visors.  they read "do not spit on the floor".

My new Southern SW 1500 is a light grey or tan equiptment inside the cab

Really?  That's a great detail item.  What color is the lettering?

There's a long standing thread on a different forum, with lots of images of different cab interiors - while SW1500s are not specifically given (figures), there are a few SW locomotives among the mix.  It may help.

best i can remember it was white applied with a stencil.  i got laid off the IC in 1966 and never was on one of their engines again. at the time, i got a laugh out of it.  that was back when the IC and CB&Q were tied for the best maintained fleet of passenger engines in the country.  when i was working as an apprentice at the engine house in memphis, the roundhouse foreman issued me a little tool kit and i would follow the machinist or inspector around and tighten up everything i could reach in the cab.  arm rests, water cooler, cup dispenser etc.  when you widened out on those Wayne Johnston era engines, nothing rattled.  i have some photos around here somewhere and if i can find that one, i will post it.

Thanks--looks like gray and black is a good choice 

 Here is what I did to mine.

The interior is not quite right for a MP15AC, but close enough.   Don't forget to paint the emergency brake valve red, it shows up pretty good outside.

 At work the interiors are painted a light tan, and the control stand is black.

 The SW1500s have more of an industrial green cab interior.  Still would want to paint the control stand black, if appropiate, and the emergency brake lever red. 

To remove the cab, I first pulled the handrails out, front and rear.  Then, tip the cab back, to release the tab in the front of the cab.  Should then lift out, just try not to pull the headlights out.  Re-installing would be the reverse order.
