I think I saw it!!!!!!

I think I saw it from the hiway, then I headed down an old gravel road and almost caught it. This is the best  shot I  could get. I almost wrecked my truck.

so close....

I'm trying to figure that one out too. It looks fake, but do to the circumstances (why would anyone lie about something like THIS) I think it's real. I've had some pictures I have taken before of something real that looked like it was a model or something because of the car window being dirty, or the way the camera was moving (from vibrations or the photographer). It's taught me to always take more than one picture, just in case. I like to take pics of the local CN yard and such and keep track of all the different engines they use for the area. So far I'm around 15 different ones, well, technically around 10 because two engines where a pair of CN's hauling off a freight to who know's where and the other pair of engines where BNSF so I know CN didn't own them. By the by I also have pics of CN owned engines being used in the area from 3 different rail roads, GT, WC, and ELS. I've also seen them use a Sesquanna switcher and some high hooded Norfolk unit, I do believe N&S not N&W but I'm not sure, that was a one time thing, probably a few years ago, and before I was into trains enough to know what RR uses which paint scheme on whose engines. Now I just wish someone would make up an order around here that would use the 75th box car. I would be sure to get a pic of it.

Re: I think I saw it!!!!!!

I agree with those who say not real, but nice work though.

TH&B don't be so grumpy on some level isn't the whole point of all the work we put into this hobby to make our models look real even though their not?

Re: I think I saw it!!!!!!

I think it is real. First look at the package labels on the car in front of the MR car.  The detail is way beyond what most industry decaling can do.  The exception of coarse is O scale.  The other reason is the ballast around the rails.  The roadbed is at least 6-8 feet above the surrounding terain.  No model railroarder would raise the roadbed that high.  The only evidence I see for this being a model scene is a lack of obvious motion in the foreground.  Jeff

I think it is a model.  Darn nice, too.

The lettering on the side of the car just looks a little off.

The lumber car it is tied to looks a bit clean as well.

Re: I think I saw it!!!!!!

That sure looks like a model to me.I  Judged not only by the boxcar, but by the BN centerbeam next to it. Also by the trucks, and the ballast looks fake.

Re: I think I saw it!!!!!!

Those two pictures are not of the same car.  The spacing between Wisconsin and Southern is different.  The black and white plackard on the lower right is missing on one of them, and the white reflective tape locations are different.

No, don't tell us!  You can do anything, but don't take away a man's dream (or his hallucination).

Looks pretty good to me. I believed it until I took a close Iook at the photo. I think it took me all of 10 seconds to figure it out.  But those 10 seconds were like a dream (or an hallucination).
