gear-jammer:

Garry,  Does your village have a name?  Looks like the home owners have good sized lots.  Your backdrop adds to the perspective nicely.  Thanks for the preview.

Chloe,  I will have my Friday morning coffee and cinnamon roll before heading outside to do some chores.

Sue

Thank you, Sue. My names can be a bit whimsical. The village is part of "Valley Heights", and the waterfall is named "Standing Falls".

Re: 02-13-2009

Good Morning Gang,

Hungry man Breakfast this morning Please,  Hot chocolate with WC to chase.  Thanks Zoe.

Glad to see most everybody up and about this morning.  But our mild weather has gone south again. This morning the temp is -27c and with the wind chill it is -35c.  Hang on CN Charlie here she comes.

Too many channels on the TV takes away far too much modelling time.  No TV in the train room, but I do have one in the computer room where I do my kit building.

Last night I got the helix wired up properly with a feeder to each loop. Almost made a mistake and wired it wrong but caught myself before I touched the iron to it.  On the rest of the layout which is around the walls the power (HOT) track is the closest one to you. But the way you enter the helix the hot side becomes the inside rail.  Had I missed that I would have had some interesting train movement.    Luckily it didn't happen.

I was really pleased yesterday I re connected with Big Ed (eddsrr) he was one of the authors of the "guide to Athern Trains".  He used to live in Wisconsin but disappeared a few years back and lost contact with him completely .  I found him through an ebay auction by chance yesterday and have had some good communication with him through the day.  I bought a couple of early "Frontier Chemical" tankers from him by the time the day was out.  He now lives in Arizona where his kids had moved to.

Glad to hear that most of you or your families are on the mend.  Livestock seems to be doing OK as well.

I have to work all weeek-end this round  Fri-Sat-Sun.  We thought we had found a fellow to work our Sundays and in fact I had trained him two weeks ago but then he bailed on us because of a family problem, so we will have to try and find someone else.

Keep smiling gang, it really looks good on you.

Johnboy out..................................

The "Wobbly" can really wobble on the helix now.

May the Rails never be Silent.

Re: 02-13-2009

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of pancakes this morning with a side of bacon.  Don't forget to bring the NYS Maple Syrup.

Somebody was asking about the price of pie and the pie fights.  Wasting all those pies is a terrible thing to do, but at least the diner can buy them in bulk at a much lower price.  They can then pass the savings on to us.............

TV.... I have a TV.  Lets see where did I put it?  Have no idea how many channels I can get as I don't usually watch any of them.  I pay through the teeth for cable, and I haven't even turned the idiot box on since Christmastime.   Why am I paying for cable then?  My son and his family come over now and then and he turns it on.  I also need to have their basic cable programing to get digital phone and internet around here.  I can think of so many other things I would rather do than watch commercials.  No matter what channel I have turned on, that is all that appears to be there except for the occasional break where they show something called "programing".  "Programing" appears to created in such a way that people are very thankful when they can get back to the prime time commercials, I guess.   Even PBS has nothing on except the fund raising events.

Well, I best get going.  I have a day and a half of things to get done (which used to take me about a half a day) so I best get at it!

Oh, the thought for today...... Two silk worms had a race. They ended up in a tie.

LSWrr:

Barry has a good point.  Dorothy has been watching most of her TV shows on the internet.  Something I need to look into since many stations up here have the show on the TV and internet at the same time.

Lee

I wouldn't even think of getting my tv service via internet. The local supplier here has made internet signal failures into an art form.

Ray........back to you with: Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, but when they lit a fire in the craft it sank. This proves once and for all that you can't have your kayak and heat it, too

Looks like the weather has the day here. It's too wet to move any gravel so I'm stuck in the house again.

But shhhh, don't tell Luke that I had it or where you put it!!! Thanks!!!  And if he tries any Jedi mind tricks, tell him the Schwartz is with you!!!

So what were we talking about...  Oh yes

Lee:  only $89???  Not bad, considering the engines I was looking at to replace my Rivarossi would cost about double!!!  If you can PM me the info?  Thanks!

Indy, only the penitent man shall pass!!!

Thanks for the link!!!  The diagrams look more complicated than it is!!!   This shouldbe fun!!!

Here, let me show my appreciation!  Chloe, can you get Lee TWO pies, to go, and a slice of apple pie, you know, the one that just came out of the oven? Oh, and whatever else he decides to order, I'll pick up his tab!

LEE!  Don't sit there...   THHHHHBBBBBBBBBBTTTTTTTTT!!!   I forgot to tell you about the whoopie cushion I left for Luke!!!  whups...

I do have a question though.  Do any of you have experience with Bachmann Spectrum Heavyweight Passenger Coaches and Diners?  I am thinking about [urchasing a few of them to retrofit into my roster for the New Hope & Ivyland!

Also, I have found the prototype models of the LIRR passenger coaches, but does $70 for a kit sound reasonable????  Here's the link to the item on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=180311414612

Thank you, in advance, for your input and opinions!

Sam
