We put one of those mini fridge's next to our bed when my wife was laid up for so long, and after she was better we decided that we liked it so much that we kept it there.  That means that I have pie storage capabilities at the bedside!  There will be no interference with the more important things of life......like pie!

Now there's a man who has his priorities straight! Makes me proud. And jealous.

WOOHOO! My first time at the top of a page! Order up everybody, lunch is on me today.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII

Good morning all,

I just got back from the dentist.  I went last week for a cleaning and they found two cavities. Today I had both filled and I’m good to go.

I planted the 17 apple trees on the layout and installed the WS bee keepers, and then I started installing the undergrowth on the west bank of Fox Creek.  I did take a few minutes to stare at the bridges to figure out how to fix a side clearance issue with the inside track, but my Jedi powers failed to fix it.  I may just have to clamp and glue the track in place when I get home tonight.

Yes!  And don't forget the medicinal quality of pie.  Made from good things.  Fruit, wheat, berries, vegetables, and stuff like that.  NUTRITION!!!

Just remember: The roundest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Cumference. He acquired his size from too much pi.

I have been looking out my kitchen window ever since I posted earlier.  When I walked through the kitchen I saw an ambulance with lights flashing across the street at the home of an elderly gentleman (90 I think) that I have helped out from time to time.  He just had a pacemaker put in a month or so ago after a valve replacement and has been in and out of the hospital several time since then.  When they brought him out in the stretcher, he was awake and responsive.  I figure that is a good sign.  He also fell and broke his hip about 3 years ago, so it could be another fall......  Anyway his name is Jim and I know he would appreciate prayers coming his way.  Thanks!

Naw, Ryan - I just meant the Diner topic from 2004 onwards; heck, I was only around here from late 2004 at that! Another scrumptuous menu! And I almost forgot - congratulations on being published (again?). I still have to transfer that issue of MRH over to my PowerMac, which has the horsepower to display it adequately. I'd be inclined to agree on the 'upgrade', Ryan, as I didn't ever have problems getting into the Diner back with the older forum software. But again, it might be that the site in general is getting more people visiting all parts (or maybe just the MR parts?) and that that's complicating things for Bergie.I guess on your Smoky Mountain pics, you could resize them to thumbnail size, put those in some storage subdirectory, and use those links to make them viewable.

Speaking of the forum software, has anyone else noticed that the link for the General Discussion (level above the Diner) in the top of the pages no longer works to go out to that? The MR link and the Trains.Com work (and I'm guessing the Diner one as well), but I have had to go roundabout way to get to the Gen. Discussion topic list page lately.

Jim ~ The MR forum code strips out certain code elements when I push the envelope with the HTML editor in the message box editing toolbar. So I will try to code the <a href></a> to an embedded thumbnail link that when clicked opens to a full size image hosted on my Piedmont Division web site pages. So as not to take up too much MR forum bandwidth....don't cha know! And thanks for the congrats on being published again! If I hard code an image height and width for typical thumbnail images at something like width="100" height="65" they get stripped out and the original image size is placed in so to resolve that I will have to create two of each image, one the actual thumbnail size for the forum link and the other the original to go to when clicked. Just more work for me, but I love coding so.....

Jeff ~ your hedge work reminds of that movie "Over the Hedge"  I like em!

Galaxy ~ Hope you feel better real soon, hot tea always smooths my sore throat.

Lee ~ Good deal with the dentist, now you can eat some lunch!

PC is all set with the bedside cooler!

You killin' me!

So Jeff...3 Cheese Chicken eh!  Sounds good!

Thoughts and prayers to all in health needs and recovery!

Maerklin files for bankruptcy protection.

Famed German model-railway maker Maerklin filed for bankruptcy protection from creditors Wednesday after it failed to secure new credit from banks.

Maerklin Holding GmbH made the bankruptcy filing at a court in Goeppingen, the company's southwestern German hometown. The company said that its everyday business would continue unaffected.

Its managers intend, in consultation with its bankruptcy administrator, "to restructure our traditional company with its cult status, with the instruments of German insolvency law, and establish it permanently in the market," Maerklin boss Dietmar Mundil said in a statement. BTW, Terry, I meant to tell you, that bridge scene is really very well done.  If the rest of the layout is up to that standard then it's really going to be something!

Nope, it ain't the Cubs. Just a friendly neighborhood sandlot game.

Re: 02-05-2009

Afternoon, Oyster stew and the Chicken Pie please and a DR Pepper Thank you.

Thanks for telling me Ryan. I wasn’t thinking about the competition thing.

Paul, I used to reload, in fact I still have the stuff and need to get going on it because , “I’m out of ammo!” But you are correct it is NOT a multi-task operation.

Rob, That’s it! Dig in! Hold your ground! Stand firm! Don’t give up your land! We’re behind you the whole way! Right fellas!?…. Right Fellas?….Right?…Fellas?…Where did everybody go? Um maybe you could work something out with her if it comes down to that.

Not a lot happening today jus a bit of layout work and then….?

Guess I’ll slide over here and see what’s happening in your world.

Todd

Terry, love that shot.

Sawyer; don't get too excited yet. Sometimes they'll flake off at the last minute. (I know, don't ask)

Yeah, but from what her friends have been telling me, I doubt it.

I reload also. First step was to throw a few charges and make sure the loads were proper weight and consistent.  Then, I always made sure to visually inspect the cartridges before seating the bullets.  Any doubt meant dumping the charge and redoing it.  It doesn't take much to blow a frame apart!

BTW I stopped by the LHS since I'm here.  I picked up a Proto UP PA A-B for $92.00.  The owner is still trying to knock down inventory.  He carries mostly eastern roads, we're in New Jersey afterall.  I have a Bachmann Spectrum UP Heavyweight in the attic back home.  Now a PA set pulling a heavyweight set might not be prototype (then, maybe it is, I don't know) but I don't care.

He carries a few Blueline units but doesn't carry decoders in stock.  After some of us told him about getting these engines and buying the Digitrax mini decoder elsewhere, he now carries the decoder too.

Maybe someday I'll get back home to the trains and my critters.  I almost forget what it's like to work. Though the last few days have been work with the funeral home, church, lawyer, insurance co, etc.

Eric
