Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
I have had so many "rants" I've written, intending on posting them to message board sites, just DISAPPEAR on me, that I now firstly use "notepad" to write out what I'll be posting. I then copy it, and paste it where I'd normally type in my script. It means that if the post doesn't make it into the forum, you still have your original, and can try again. On the OTHER HAND, I've often wondered if it was simply GOD flicking me in the ear, and making my post evaporate, as its something I'll sound like a DUFUSS for having written. I suppose that Notepad workaround will somehow not work, should the Almighty actually be of a mind to quash it, right?

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
John- you're right. Sometimes my tone takes on that I feel the diner is in danger. As you have stated, that is not what was said. Most of the remarks I refer to in the negative are not directed towards the powers. I don't believe that Model Railroader is looking to squash the diner

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
Evenin' everyone! Zoe, nice big cup of decafe in a R&GV RR Museum mug please and thank you! You know that Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae would hit the spot as well.
Eric, may your Father go in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know all too well these times having lost both my parents and a wife. May your memories of better times help to support you and heal you during and after all this. I managed to more or less finish the basic plan for the Division Meet coming up here in Geneva in March. Have the clinics and other program set for the morning and 4 layouts on the home tour for the afternoon. Still some details to get done, but I feel much better having this much ready to go. I also took some time to make a few more line poles for the layout this afternoon and tonight. The neat thing I find about scratchbuilding them is they are quite easy to do and I can make them specific for the location. I'm going to have a seat over near the woodstove to keep warm. I have a bit of scratchy throat this evening. Hope I'm not catching a cold......

Good evening, All. Chloe, I will have a hot cider before heading to bed. You guys have been windy today. I had trouble catching up.
Philip, Thoughts and prayers. You need to get rid of the pain so you can get back out on your scooter.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
***Eric, very sorry to hear about your Dad. That's a real tough one. Nothing helpful I can add, other than you are not alone in what you're dealing with. Very sorry!
Question folks: Is Bachmann N.S. EZ track (HO) compatible or interchangable with the Atlas N.S. True track?
Good Night all.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
Hi Gang, Chloe Dear, For a bed time snack, I'll have a cinnamon bagel and hot chocolate with WC. and that is not Wisconsin Central (Train item) .
ERIC, I want to convey our sincere thoughts and prayers for your Dad. Lost mine in 81 and I still miss him. I now how tough it is. Philip, Hang in there good buddy, our prayers are with you as well, I'm sure the good Lord has a plan for you and I would bet it isn't finished yet.. I believe that you will be telling us better news soon. Think positive and focus on that bike that you will be using to further his work. That ought to do it. RYAN, Thanks for all the good looking grub over the last while. I thoroughly enjoy them. My advise to those without high speed is "GET IT". Also prayers and blessings for your dad as well. I received my MR Mag today in the mail and the center page was loose as well as those others mentioned. (HINT) Publisher. JERRY, Smart move to send that worker home. They have no business coming in that condition to folks whose health is weakened. Sure like your wall display for showing off your rolling stock. JOHN & FERGIE and other EAST COAST SEADOGS, How have you all faired with that last storm. The last time I looked it was still dumping snow on you. What a crazy winter this has been, they can't convince me there is Global Warming. The Ice melt in the Artic I believe is just a long term cycle happening and the last time was probably long before record keeping. Well I never have been one much for exercise, I have always been very active in my work. But now I am sitting at a desk so much I have really noticed a difference and I am about 25 Lbs (at least) heavier than I should be. So today I started to go to Gold's Gym. For the first day I had a moderate workout for legs, hips shoulders and neck. Took about 45 minutes. Right now and through out the day I have felt really good. Hope I still do when I wake up in the morning. Well off to bed, have to be up at 6:00am for work for the next two days. Prayers and best wishes to all in need. Johnboy out and still smiling. The "Wobbly" wobbled for awhile tonight. May the Rails never be Silent.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
Evening all from Cal. No weather reports and I'm not going to order anything to eat, because frankly, after FINDING the Diner and reading the posts, I'm really not sure what I can talk about or not. Does anyone know whether this move is going to be monthly?
Eric: My prayers are with your father and you and your family.
PC: My prayers are also with you.
I was going to tell you all about the SuperBowl party, which was fun and rowdy, but I'll spare the details, because it seems to be "off topic."
"On Topic," no news so far on my Z-6. One of the posters on the Old Diner mentioned that he was glad I could afford one, but actually, I've been saving up for this puppy since I first heard the Sunset was going to release it.
Oh, I suppose I can mention this--during the Superbowl, several of us went out into the garage and ran the trains. Could have been all of those Card penalties, LOL! At any rate, I was about to hook up one of my Yellowstones, when Sr. Margie looked a my little 2-8-0 sitting in my yard and said, "What a CUTE little locomotive." It's an old LMB Rio Grande C-45 retrofitted with an NWSL Can and Tomar track shoes that is stubbier than Heck and cute as a button. Needless to say, major train with Yellowstone was sidetracked and everyone went "Ooh and Aah" as I made up a 10-car 'turn' with said stubby little 2-8-0, took out of the yard and dropped off a couple of noisy cattle cars at the stock-pens at Wagon Wheel Gap and then continued up toward Yuba Pass with the rest of the train. My little Consol was the hit of the day. Never did run the Yellowstone. But my little 2-8-0 sure turned in a days worth of work.
Here's a picture of her doing her usual yard work. She's sure a cutie, at least IMO.

I'd almost forgotten that when she gets out on the main, she can walk about 15 cars up my 2% grades with nary a spin. I'm going to have to run her out, more.
Remington, Spooky and Weasel were on their best behavior, BTW. Except that Remington got into the pizza. It wouldn't have been so bad, but it was Fr. Anthony's pizza. At least he didn't get into the beer, LOL!
Best to all, and sincere prayers to those in need.
Oh, PS, Rob: Bachman EZ track roadbed is about 1/8" higher than the Atlast True Track. You'll need to do some adjusting between them to get one up to the other on a smooth gradient. But the Bachmann EZ track offers a greater variety of radii (18", 22" 28" 34" and 36") than the Atlas, and actually has a much more secure 'locking' system between sections. Jeff uses the EZ track on his layout, and I have a large section of my layout (Yuba pass) laid with the 36" radius EZ track. I like it, it's been in place for seven years without any problems. Hope this helps.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
Good evening/morning to you guys! I'll take a Coke and an order of scrambled eggs with white toast and a side of pastrami please (can we tell I love pastrami???)
I have to say, Bergie, Thanks for being a cool moderator, I've been on sites where the mod has a major "god" complex, you on the other hand are definitely "cool" in my book!
Toast to the Berg-man!!!
Eric: My thoughts and prayers go out to you, I know God is there with you and your father, I had to endure the loss of my grandfather several years back, You both will be in a better place soon. I pray the Lord takes him quietly and painlessly...
I thank everyone in this Diner for making me feel so welcome, I was on the verge of not being involved with this side of the site, until I came in here!!! This atmosphere is what has kept me coming back on... Thank you!!!
Sam
Here is the Rivarossi engine I have been mentioning... You can see the motor and wires, I guess they figured it looked like the boiler???

I'll post better pics as I can get them uploaded...

Put a short piece (1.5 - 2 inches) of regular track between them and you shouldn't have a problem.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
To my new found friends, my thanks for your prayers. The engine house is quiet now. The boiler that first saw fire and created steam on July, 28, 1923 went cold at 2:25 am. The engine ran strong for those 85 years, performing flawlessly, fading away quietly in the night.
Chloe, I'd like a coffee and a cheese danish please. I have a long day ahead.
Mom's still in the hospital fighting the brave fight, the firebox burns bright, the cyinders full of steam.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
Eric: Please accept my condolances on your loss. Good morning.
It's a balmy 33F and it's partly cloudy. The high should be in the low 50's and it will be partly cloudy.
Yesterday
I got the dummy UP GP40 apart and weighted it with modeling clay. The
nice thing about this stuff is that it never dries out so it stays
heavy. The loco started off at 1.5 ounces and now weighs 5.5 ounces. If
I need more weight later I can throw in some lead. Today I'll try and
get to work on the engine house project. Had to take my father's
pickup in for work yesterday. It needed new shocks all the way around
and the windshield wiper motor was shorted out. It was ready several
hours later and passed the safety inspection with flying colors. How is
this train related? I use this truck to haul in old railroad ties when
I can find them.

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
Mornin an irish coffee please Zoe. Suppose to be a mostly sunny but cold [high 19] day here, but it's forecast a warm up by the weekend [40's n 50's] and rain of course.
Got caught up on yesterdays goings on, and I can see Bergie's side. But I think most the problems have to do with the new format n server, than the OT photos. I don't want to think about losing this place. Since I don't drive anymore, this is my only contact to the outside world most the time. Ok I'm done with my complaining.
PC,,,, hope the docs get your leg squared away afore much longer.
ERICK, there's nothing I can say to help much at times like these, but you n your families in our thoughts and may the Lord comfort you.
We found out new first great grandkid is going to be a girl this week [due in June]. And yes grandpas already looking for her a train. I've given every one of the kids a little train when they were born or soon after.
Up date on little brother, he had the pacemaker surgery last Thurs, Other than being sore; he's doing well at home now, after having to go back into surgery for a leaking vain Thurs evening.
Back on topic now. I see some of you have been making progress and runnin engines. Enjoyed all the pics you folks been posting, keep'em coming.
Here, the roadwork is coming along even with KC's help putting down some drywall mud for the shoulders yesterday. She didn't do to bad for a 3 year old.
Jbirds here today and she's not good help, gets in to big a hurry and has to do things her own way, right or wrong.
Hope to get over to Hobby Lobby [40% off coupon] and my LHS this Sat n pick up some stuff to finish some projects.
Best gets going, soon be time to wake up bodies for work n school. Thoughts for all those in need, n hope ya'll has a gooden

Cederstrand:Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thanks.
***Ryan, I'm not buying it. I for one enjoy those menues. They add atmosphere to the Diner.
***Paul, try not to have to much fun bending that axle.
The last few days, this site has become sooooo slow to load, most of the time I give up waiting for it and walk away. Anyone else having load time problems?
Rob Rob, I don't buy it either, but as they say "He who has the GOLD makes the rules". LSWrr:Do you guys think we are that off topic? Maybe to save bandwidth we can just post links to our pictures? I don’t know if that would help or not. What do you guys think? I haven’t had any problems loading or getting into the diner. I’m running AT&T DSL at home. Lee
Lee and some of the other folks also mentioned linking the daily menu to another off site page, and that is exactly what I was thinking. More than one way to skin a cat right! So going forward I will host the menu board pages on my own web site and post the URL links so as not to add any more bandwidth or take up and of the MR forum "off topic" space...now if the MR site experiences any more bugaboos it won't be because of me....."noooo it ain't my fault..." Garry trying to post and he can't get in! Thanks Duke and Dick for giving us the heads up on Garry! unca roggie:I have had so many

Don't look at me...I didn't do it..... it was the one armed bandit..... "....noooo it ain't my fault..." Sorry about your dad Eric, thoughts and prayers for you and the family! Drum roll plueezzzeee....the daily diner menu in living color.....on another web site....

Re: Elliott's Trackside Diner VIII
Good morning all, Prayers and healing thoughts to: Inch’s brother, Erick for his loss, and PC for a seedy recover and diagnosis. INCH, Congratulations on the new granddaughter!
A little on topic news: I made 19 apple trees last night for the orchard and applied ground cover to the east side of the Fox Creek section of the layout. The apple trees cost about 50 cents each to make, LHS has prefab apple trees for $2.50 each so I think I did ok. I’m remodeling the look of my web page so once that gets done I’ll catch up on all the promised pictures.
I did my taxes last night on tax slayer. Free to all Active duty members of the Armed forces providing your only income is the military.
SAM, I have several Rivarossi locomotives to be converted to DCC as soon as I get time to do it my first project will be a 0-4-0 then the Mallet and the Mountain.
