Atlas/QSI SDP35 on MRC Wireless

I have an unusual interaction between a pair of earlier QSI equipped Atlas locos and my MRC wireless system.  When on the wireless handhelds, ramping down the speed to zero on either of the Atlas SDP35's will bring the speed on the locos down to almost zero, but not stop; just creaping forward.  Also, at that point, the function buttons (lights, horn, bell) stop working.  Cycling the direction key to reverse and back to forward resets the speed signal to the decoder to zero and the loco stops, however the function keys still don't work.  Once stopped, you can restart running the loco as normal, and once it starts rolling, it will respond normally, including all the function keys.  This does not happen when running these locos on the wired handhelds (Prodigy Advance).

I have reset the decoders and it makes no difference. I have other Atlas/QSI equipped locos (MP15DCs) and they run fine and normally. I also have Soundtraxx (both the DSD and TSU types) and never had any problems.  This is the first quirk I have had with the system.

Anyone else ever had something like this happen?   If so, any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Detlef

Have you tried a reset on your system?  If that doesnt work, I would give MRC a call.  It is highly unlikely that 2 QSI locos have the same issue...gotta be the DCC system.

David,

Would the problems go away if the upgrade chip was installed into the two troubled locomotives?

I doubt it is the locos..........but at any rate, take off the shells and let me know what is printed on the chips.

David,

I will try that.  Also, I have only done a Cv reset on the locos; maybe I need to do a hard DC reset as well.

Thanks,

Detlef

I'll see what I can find on the chips.  Replacing them is what I thought would be my next step.

Thanks.
