Website for Oakhurst Railroad

A website for my current HO scale model railroad layout in an 8.5 x 11 foot room. It includes pictures of the layout under construction as well as the (more or less) completed layout.  Also included is a link to my old Oakhurst Railroad which was only 16 feet x 16 inches

http://www.oakhurstrailroad.com

The layout is a two level point-to-point railroad with a helix and an optional continuous run.  For operations, trains are put together in the Oakhurst yard and then travel to the logging or mining areas on the upper level.

I hope you enjoy your trip on the Oakhurst Railroad!

The sunflowers are from Busch (189-6003) and come in packages of 60 as a kit for $10.99.  Available from Walthers or maybe your local hobby store.  They also make corn, pumpkins, daisies, tulips, roses, etc.

Thanks,

Marty

Marty--

That's a VERY handsome layout you've got, I really enjoyed touring the website.  I think you've done a really fine job of capturing the Central Sierras.

FINE work!

Tom

Re: Website for Oakhurst Railroad

The new website is mostly current and some old material but it is a good start I think.  I did get a new and better camera for Christmas and I took a few new pictures, but they weren't really any better than the current ones, only more megapixals.

Anyway, now that I know how to update the website, I can add other pictures as I take them.  I think I want to do a series of photos tracing a "day in the life" of a couple of trains during operation up the mountain and back.  When will I find the time?  Work and business travel are so distracting from the important things!

Re: Website for Oakhurst Railroad

Excellent use of space in the track plan design, in my opinion.  I like the placement of the helix, sort of out of the way.  They can be space hogs.  Like the fact that the upper shelf seems to have a shallower profile, out from the wall, than the lower level, keeping the lower level more visible.  Less trackage on the upper level keeps that shelf shallower and makes sense with your overall concept of an out-and-back logging operation, if I see your operating intentions correctly.

Overall, very impressive layout.
