[This post had to be approved by the moderators anyone know why ?]

Because there is a model dog about to run out infront of an oncoming train?

Because they fear your friend might get carried away on the throttle and frighten the wee little folks on the layout?

Those preparing to begin their first layout might give up after seeing such nice work?

Gee, I have no idea why your post required approval. Whistling Rob ps: I can't really see the pics right now because this time of day there is too much glare on my computer screen. Will look at them tonight.

I will make a WAG that it has to deal with intellectual property. You have absolute rights over photography on your layout and it will be presumed that you have absolute rights to publication of  your photography. Such may not be the case regarding your friend, Art. It cannot be presumed that simply because Art allowed you to take photographs during your visit he was automatically granting you rights to publish those photographs here on the forum.

It might seem a little farfetched but there is an issue of licensing here; John Allen's layout has been gone for thirty-five years now but his estate still has rights to photography taken on his layout and any attempt to publish photographs--for commercial purposes--of that layout without the permission of that estate could well run afoul of legal issues.

Just a WAG!

Terry,

You should have taken pictures of your layout tour on Saturday!  I was impressed at your layout! Great scratch building!

We made it to the G Gaugers, then your layout ,and two more before heading home. Oh, thanks for the mirror pane! It's a bit short

but i'll make it work with an engine house to the side of it.  We didn't get to see Art's layout because it was on Sunday. Maybe next year.

Lando picked up a new Bachman Spectrum SD-45 w/ DCC for me at the hobby shop Sunday and my wife paid him for it. It's supposed to

be a suprise Christmas present but a little peeking and Lando's big mouth gave it away. HA!   Now if i can only get her to spring for a sound

decoder and it will be the perfect locomotive....Wink     Again, thank you for allowing Lando and me to visit your layout....chuck

Snip

Well RT of course your right about the intellectual property thing but how would the moderators know the content of a post with out reading it first and if that were the case every time you hit the post button you

would  get that message then next day your post would appear

What actually happened was when I was done composing the post I hit the PREVIEW BUTTON

and immediately got the paragraph about the moderators reviewing the post

The more I think about it the more I think it just may be another software glitz

that when you hit the preview button that's what happens

I really love that head-on shot of a geep consist - it reminds me of all the times I used to see that kind of thing on the C&O's Plymouth Sub in southeast Michigan when I was a young 'un!

BINGO!!!!!

Let me address my prior post by repealing it; although it is possible that the moderators could indeed address issues of intellectual property that is not, I suspect, what has happened here!

Do you remember one Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks back when some Bozo posted a string of "feelthy peekshures"  here on the forum. In response to that the forum software has been flagged to identify postings with photographs; when you hit the "PREVIEW" button your posting got flagged for review prior to its being allowed to be viewed by the forum membership. Once the moderators deemed all to be hunkydory your posting was released for view.

I don't know why I didn't spot it; I have written programs which did essentially the same thing although usually done in conjuction with banking transactions.

Interesting theory, but Bergie has actually acknowledged in his thread in the community assistance forum http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/t/139934.aspx that this seems to be just another bug in the new forum software.

You can totally safely preview images before posting - the bug seems to strike randomly according to Bergie's report.

Good ol Bergie! On the ball as usual! Now if he could explain why this post was working properly before I linked to Community Assistance but the right side margin went out into space when I clicked back!
