Help me redesign my track plan!

I have a 5X12 ho scale layout that only really has a 2 track mainline with 1 siding. As you can tell it gets boring after a while so Im wondering if anyone wants to come up with a new track plan for me as im terrible at planning and need the creative input of others. I use E-z track with minimum 22" radius turns, those are the only design limits. For whoever helps me, have fun with this!

It's kind of hard to design a track plan, when you haven't said what you want your layout to do. All you have said is what you don't want!

I think what he's saying is that he wants something new. It would be nice to have a bit of input though, for example, are there any features (industries, scenery, etc) that you just have got to have?

You might try looking around in the Model Railroader trackplan database.

Good luck!

No I cannot tell.  What is it that you find boring about it?   How are you operating it now?  Can you start a train at a station, complete a x number of loops and stop in front of the station in an exact predetermine time?  Can you do it without speeding, without jerking the train starting or stopping?

Well there have to be some other design limits, or it will be just as "boring" as the current one.

Sorry I wasnt so specific. In terms of operations I need continuous running with switching and when I say "boring" i mean I am tired of just watching my trains go around in circles constantly.

One thing that may help is show us what you all ready have. Point you what you like and don't like. Are you DCC? With a 5 x 12 you could run two trains at the same time, may be that would spices things up for you.

More details will net you better answers.

Ah!  So there is the base issue.  You are not operating what you have.  Try developing a schedule and then run the train to the schedule.  That will make it less boring.  Schedule a switching operation on the one siding you do have and schedule another train around it.   The real issue is that regardless of the track plan - it will become boring if it isn't operated in a manner that makes it interesting.
