Re: i need help

Welcome to the forum.  Could you be more specific...what is the nature of your difficulty?  If you just need help deciding what to use to keep the cork roadbed in one place and in one orientation, many of us use plain old, cheap-as-you-can-get-it acrylic latex caulking.  Some use wood glue, the yellow kind, and some use the white all-purpose glue.  I used the acrylic, and like it very much.  A light film of the stuff is all you need, not enough so that it beads up out on the edges when you press the cork down.  Spread it out as thin as Marmite.

Re: i need help

I'm using two faced Painter's Masking Tape to secure the cork to plywood. I started using this technique three years ago to affix cork temporarily. Well after sitting there for three years I decided to lift it up and do some re-allignment. I needed a putty knife, scraper and a heavy duty blade to remove it. Temporary my foot!!

It's a great system as it will not instantly bond and can be lifted if it not's perfect given some time however it will bond securely and once ballast is glued i suspect it will be impossible to remove withouth great effort.

Re: i need help

Well,
I haven't used much cork roadbed, mostly on my 1'x2' Gn15 layout and some arond my power-loc track to raise up some buildings to track level. What I used is hot glue, Though I imagine you would have to work in very small sections at a time. I usually apply a dab of hot glue on one end, glue it down, and the add more glue in 1 inch sections, pin it down, move farther along. Hope that helps...

Re: i need help

Hi,

I and club members have got a quick, easy and high standard roadbed. We use a rubber /synthetic based product that is used for sealing or lining. The supplier cuts it into the correct width (HO or N) and in 1 metre lengths. It has a sticky back like double sided tape. It is flexible and can be curved, cut and shaped. I costs much lesss than cork. Once the plan is drawn, curves drawn, the track bed is laid. In minutes it is down. One has about 10 minutes to lift and shift. I can get more details as you may be able to get a similar productin your countries. No cutting, rolls of cork, and messy white glue. SPrulz.
