Hello

Hello everyone.  I have been reading the posts here for a couple of weeks and decided to jump in.  My 8yo son and I are just starting to build our first layout together and the August Model Railroader has a trackplan in it that I have been thinking about for a couple of years now.  I just got around to finishing my basement which is why we didn't start earlier.

The plan we are looking at is the Housatonic Valley on page 48.  We will be shortening the two legs to fit the room( about 6 1/2 feet each).  We are modeling in N Scale and looking at putting in a small lumber yard, rice factory and possible simulate an engine plant.

I am looking at basing the layout on a small local train here in town which serves these industries and the era will be modern.  I was looking at doing a switching layout but my son wants a continous, so when I saw this layout in the magazine I thought it should fit our needs.

I am sure that I will have lots of questions later as we get into the building.

Dave
