It's a proto-kit-bash!  What can I say!

The railroad also has a couple of FP-7's.  It's like Dr. Frankenstein got into the locomotive business!Big Smile [:D]

Let me get this straight...........this video shows a prototype Alco running with an EMD 567 under the hood and a K5LA horn?  This sounds like something that would happen to a modeler who accidentally uploaded the wrong sound scheme for his Lok Sound decoder!

What a combo! Tongue [:P]Big Smile [:D]Thumbs Up [tup]

Naw...It just a generic MRC sound decoder in it!Tongue [:P]

That was a very well done vid Lee-I have to say it's also excellent reference for switching operations IMO.

I'll have to let my better half see it when she has the time, as she's an N scaler like you & has an Atlas Soo Line RS-1 (close enough) to see how the "real deal" operates!

I too would like to send my appreciation for sharing this fine video.  It helped comfirm that I am working my local way to fast.  Each step requires more time than I thought it did.  No more smash and go on my layout, now I will simulate adding the air, releasing hand brake, and check to see that the brakes have released.

Re: If you like sleepy branchline operations....

Lee,

Thanks for sharing (your video) with us!

This is exactly the type of operation I'm trying to emulate with my model railroad - rural secondary line in granger (i.e. farm) country. While I model the north-central area of the upper Midwest, the geography and industries of the M&D certainly look familiar.

Watching a crew go about their work on a local is fine inspiration towards my modeling, and also a great afternoon pick-me-up after being away from trackside (railfanning) for too long. It sure gets the modeling juices flowing again!

Great job! (and I've bookmarked that page to watch the video over when time permits - it's that good!)

Re: If you like sleepy branchline operations....

Thanks, everyone.

One thing I came away with was that I need to buy some BLMA parts and make the doors on my local engines open!  My layout is set in the summer months, and to run an RS-3 with the door closed would be akin to riding a convertible with the top up!
