Nostalgia Trip Coming to an End

It's been a while since I stopped by the website (grossersnostalgiatrip.com) for Ray and Renee Grosser's Soo Line Nostalgia Trip to see if there were any updates and man was there.  After a group from NMRA leaves on August 3rd, the HO scale layout will be dismantled.  Another great layout is coming to an end.  It has long been one of may favorites and Renee's scrathbuilt structures are top notch.  I couldn't find the guestbook on their site anymore and it kind of sounds like they may be discontinuing their website (or at least the portion that deals with the HO layout) so visit soon if you would like to take one last look around.  I have no connection whatsoever with the Grossers other than admiring their work for the past several years.  I hadn't read any mention of the the impending abadonment of their line so I thought I would mention it.

Well that certainly bites the big one. With both the Afton and Gauley divisions of the V&O gone. the AM gone, the CMSF, MK&Q. and now the Nostalgia Trip, all the great layouts that inspired me to get into the hobby are gone.

I feel like the guy who got left at the station and am watching drumhead fade off into the distance. I get the feeling of being left out and left behind.

Re: Nostalgia Trip Coming to an End

well...  its a natural evolution.  This is the hobby's 2nd "middle age" when the parent layouts who raised us start to die off.  I can't quite put an exact timeline on it, seeing as I wasn't alive at the time, but I think the first one entails the death of the 'original' great layouts: the 3 Gorre and Daphetid's, Mescal Lines, Delta Lines, Cananadaigua Southern, etc.
