General Discussion (Model Railroader)

Evening Folks,

Today, after a nice chat with the LHS owner, i was pretty much determined to try out the Bar Mills Insta-Fence, and yes, im glad i did. I found the kit to be highly detailed, easy to use, and looks great when plugged into any scene.

Myself, i am an avid fisherman, and wanted to represent that somehow on my layout. Ive got the pond, ive got a nice log to fish on (without a fisherman till friday)  and boy, that insta-fence was a perfect touch to that scene. Have a look at my photo (blurry i know) and tell me what you think.

I like the weathering and the signs on the fence. Looks realistic.  Like me, you're likely getting used to a digital camera.  If you're using Photo Bucket, you can go to the "edit" feature and actually sharpen up you image. 

Take a few more photos from different angles and post them on this thread.  So far I like what I see.  As suggested above, the log is a bit oversized, but an easy fix.

Im sorry for the blurry pictures. I am only 15 years old, and cannot afford a high quality camera. I am using my cell phone camera, so it is hard to take a good quality picture.

MisterBeasley, I used the woodland scenics water kit, which comes with a dark blue base paint, and some realistic water.

Is there any other suggestions or anything i might want to touch up on this scene?

The log is a bit too big, it looks like a redwood IMO. I'd reccomend a smaller log. Also, does your family or dad have a good camera? Almost all families have a camera for photos of vacations and such. (ours does, although it's actually my camera) Pretty much anything would be better than a cell phone camera.

Myself, and few buddys of mine, walk about a mile and a half each day to fish this one pond. We chose this pond not because it was close to home (obviously) but because it was a place that was quite and not to busy, and there are tracks near by. We all carried a massive log to shore so we could all sit and enjoy an afternoon fishing. There isnt a wooden fence around our area, but there is an old wire fence about ten feet long practically right behind us where we sit.

This is why the fence is where it is.

Don't worry about making someone else happy.

Some people on here just aren't happy I guess unless they're making themselves out to be superior to a 15 year old student and unless everyone does it their way. And maybe then they'd still be grumpy. 

I actually liked the scene--reminds me of some places around where I grew up. Yeah, the focus could be better, but you had addressed that in the initial post.

I think whether or not the advertisements are out of place depends on the overall context of the wider scene.

Remember, model railroading should be fun.
