I want to be able to print out paper structures on my Canon i850 printer. I asked the question if I can use cardstock in this printer and was advised to check the manual. Unfortunately, my manual is on CD and when I try to bring it up, it wants to load acrobat 4.0 before it will enter the documentation. I already have acrobat 7 abd the dumb software will not work.

So, does anyone know of a single sheet slot on this computer? Or, how can I find out? A google search was fruitless.

Take out the regular stack of paper and put in a stack of cardstock.  The printer should just pick up the first sheet.  The worst you're going to do is get a paper jam.

I've got an HP printer, and that's what I do.  Works great.

I very rarely get a paper jam on my HP printer with card stock. 

I've built a few commercial cardstock kits of ships and planes and have found that its very easy to laminate plain paper printouts to any other paper products using 3-M spray contact cement. Just spray the card board and immediatly apply you printed peice. I ususally just rough out the walls or other parts and then attach them to cardboard without worrying about lining up edges then wait til the mess dries and then cut out the parts using the bestest sharpest knife you got. I also like to use Alleens tacky white glue for nearly instant construction. Oh yeah I also like to seal the printouts with a couple of LIGHT coats of Krylon clear matte.

Should work fine. Just replace the stack of copy paper with card stock.

I can answer this first hand, as we have an i850 as well.

We print cards (birthday, thank you's, etc) on card stock all the time, so you will have no issues.

Unlike some other printers, this one does not have a card stock/heavy paper selection, so we just leave it on the plain paper choice (most of the rest are types of photo papers).  If you are using something really heavy, try the "envelope" selection before you print.

Should work well, it is a good printer.
