Thank you, Harold - I was hoping you'd post details like this!  It really does look great with the higher drivers.

I cannot tell the differance between the wheel sizes. It would be nice if you could post a picture.

Re: Put Larger Drivers on the Bachmann On30 4-4-0

I was a little unhappy when I unpacked my Bachmann 4-4-0 On30 loco. I did not know it was going to be so small. I was looking for a larger loco .....But in looking around the info I had I found a 3 ft loco that was about the same size...and I had worked on it!!

While in high school I worked at Carowinds park near Charlotte NC. The owner Pat Hall was a train collector. We had two steam locos at the park, a 1890's era 2-6-2 and a new 4-4-0. The little 4-4-0 is almost the exact same size as the Bachmann loco...maybe the prototype is a amusment park loco?!?!?!

Thanks for the conversion info...don't know if I'll try it but good to know! Thanks

There is quite a visual difference. Is is possible to go even larger? Or is that about the limit?

Just eyeballing I think you could fit an HO 80" which would be a 44" in O scale,  bit large for so small an engine. The HO 72" would be a better fit.
