New MTH HO LOCO!

From an Email from MTH

M.T.H. To Release HO Triplex In 2008

September 26, 2007 - M.T.H. Electric Trains will be releasing its second HO steam engine, an Erie Triplex, to M.T.H. Authorized Retailers in early 2008. Available in three different cab numbers, each in two paint schemes, the die-cast model comes fully equipped with Proto-Sound 3.0 digital sound and synchronized puffing smoke.

Following on the footsteps of our highly successful Pennsylvania K-4, the M.T.H. Triplex captures one of the most unique looking locomotives of all time in this exquisitely detailed die-cast model, complete with a long list of standard features not found on any other manufacturers HO locomotives, including a first for M.T.H. HO models; lighted marker lights. Operation modes include conventional analog DC with most DC power supplies, DCC command with any DCC controller and DCS command with M.T.H.'s DCS Digital Command System. Each locomotive can operate on 22" radius curves.

Re: New MTH HO LOCO!

Alas, you are the second person to announce this offering.  I believe the original is now on the second page.

I hope something comes of it and that the product sells.  It would be good for the hobby, I think, to have another producer offer interesting models.  The only fly in the ointment for many of us is that MTH insists on the Beta/VHS paradigm where he favours Beta.  His software is proprietary and has not gotten sterling reviews in terms of its crossover into DCC, which many of us use preferentially.

Again, it would be a spiffy loco.  I could get it around my main and into much of my yard and secondary tracks.

It is handy for MTH to offer the Virginian model, but it was a 2-8-8-8-4.

This model is the least asked for model in any poll I have seen, but here it is!!!!!!!!!

I noticed they don't have a smoke unit in the tender for the exhaust of the rear engine.

 Cheers

I wonder if they could find a way to sell the V model with the correct trailing truck?  What would it take to have two frames...I mean, besides a whack of cash?  For that much dough, I would lean on them pretty hard to at least get the numbers and types of wheels right.

I'm not an Erie modeler but this is a very neat model...  I might start saving for one of these.
