RE: Whats your engine roster?
I model Santa Fe in HO, currently backdating to the mid-late 50's. Here's the active roster:
Passenger:
2 Stewart F7AB (both powered) sets
Freight:
2 Stewart F3AB (dummy b) sets
2 Stewart FTAB (dummy b) sets
2 Atlas/Kato GP-7s
2 Atlas H16-44s
1 Atlas/Kato RS1
Switchers:
1 Stewart DS-4-4-1000
1 Atlas S-2
When I slip into the early 60's, when SF began the first blue/yellow scheme, the following come out to play:
Freight:
1 Atlas/Kato GP-7
1 Athearn GP-35
Switchers:
1 Atlas S-2
1 Atlas S-4
Inactive freight engines; all late 60's +; don't know what I'm going to do with them yet:
1 Athearn U33-C
1 Atlas GP-38
1 Athearn SD-40-2

RE: Whats your engine roster?
I tried to make a roster in 1989 for my insurance company and when I got over a certain number, I scared myself and quit counting. I am certain it has doubled since then with all the fine offerings lately. My latest additions are two sets (A-B-B-A, A-B-B-A) of the Athearn Genesis Fs for the Walthers Super Chief and last weekend at GATS I bought a Proto 0-8-0 in Missouri Pacific colors. Couldn't pass on the price of $80. I've got the Genesis 4-6-6-4 D&RGW on order. Pitty I don't have a layout to run them on.

I've limited my road names which helps a little. I'm down to seven or so.
I've ditched all the high priced brass steam that doesn't run well anyway.
I've ditched ALL the brass diesels except for an E5.
I'm eliminating duplicates.
Actually, I don't have much trouble thining, it is just hard to thin them faster than they accumulate. I now close my eyes when I see things like the Lionel and Trix Big Boys, the Rivarossi Allegeny. Plus the newest rule. If I have no place to store the thing when I get home I can't buy it.

RE: Whats your engine roster?
good lordy... i sure wish i had at least a few engines... lol, i'm just starting out in the hobby and my only engine that i have is a kato, EMD SD40, i think... I'm not currently near it so i don't know for sure. Conrail paint scheme.... it cost like 100 bucks... i have yet to run it, but i have the detailed parts on it finally except the hand rails... i am not coordinated enough to put them on... everything else was easy enough... i lost too many of the handrails trying to put them on and dropping them and not finding them... oh well... i'm hoping that for christmas i'll get maybe another engine for my roster. my buddy and i are working on setting up a layout in his basement, and we don't really have all that much stuff now... gotta wait till after christmas to buy the track for our big layout though. so for now we're just using some EZ track from bachmann until then. anyone have any Conrail engines that they are looking to part with for a decent price? Email me at Chadg@fulton-net.com Thanks.... Chad

RE: Whats your engine roster?
I probably need to do this anyway after thinning the (brass) herd:
2- H16-44 VGN
2- H24-66 VGN
1- PA & 1- PB C&O (yeah, I know)
1- 0-4-0 N&W
3- 0-8-0... 2- N&W, 1- VGN
2- 4-6-2 VGN
3- 2-8-2 VGN
1- 2-8-4 VGN
2- 4-8-2 N&W (one brass streamlined)
3- 4-8-4 N&W (one brass)
2- 2-6-6-4 N&W
3- 2-8-8-2... 2- N&W, 1- VGN
I never thought I'd be here, but I have almost everything I want or need as far as locomotives go. All I want now is a BLI Class J, and a 4-8-0 from somewhere, and maybe a 2-6-6-2 as well, but I am done with more brass, so I will have to wait and see.

RE: Whats your engine roster?
My primary interest, as will be obvious, is the UP in the 1940's. To that end, I have reduced my roster to the following:
HO Scale Roster (all Union Pacific):
EMD E2A #LA-1 Oriental Limited
EMD E2B #LA-2 Oriental Limited
EMD E2B #LA-3 Oriental Limited
EMD E3A #5-M-1 Oriental Limited
EMD E3B #5-M-2 Oriental Limited
EMD E6A #LA-4 Oriental Limited
EMD E6B #LA-5 Oriental Limited
EMD E6B #LA-6 Oriental Limited

Alco 4-8-8-4 Big Boy #4010 Rivarossi

Alco 4-8-4 Northern FEF-3 #844 Rivarossi
USRA 4-8-2 Light Mountain #7009 Bachmann Spectrum
USRA 2-8-0 Consolidation #721 Bachmann Spectrum
USRA 2-8-0 Consolidation #721 (will be renum'd to #722) Bachmann Spectrum
I'm considering replacing my brass E-6's with the Broadway Limited set. That will allow funds to also get the BLI E-6 AA set (UP #7-M-1 & 7-M-2), something I failed to do when I could afford brass. Not sure yet, though. Otherwise, I'm always looking for something different that UP would have run in the 40's.
Cheers,
--Mike

RE: Whats your engine roster?
Started about two months ago and this is what I have
Bachmann Spectrum 4-8-2 J2 Heavy C&O George Washington Set with SoundTraxx decoder for passenger service
Proto 2K 0-8-0 C14 switcher for my yard work also with SoundTraxx decoder
Proto 2K 2-8-8-2 Virginian with QSI (yes they shared lines with C&O so this is okay!) for freight hauls - THIS BY FAR IS MY FAVORITE BECAUSE OF THE DETAIL!
Broadway 2-10-4 T1 C&O with QSI for coal drags. - Close second favorite
Now all I need is my coal cars, and cabooses and I'm all set for moving stock.
So far planning a 2 main track U shaped layout with a 3rd mid track to be shared by passing passenger/freight trains. (Prototypical for C&O) I'm glad I bought the 2-10-4 before I actually laid any real track. That thing is a hog on the test curves I set up! I may have to rethink my plan and go for a wide shelf layout!

RE: Whats your engine roster?
In US HO (also have German N, British OO, and some LGB):
Athearn:
2 x SW7
SD9
GP60
F7A
F7B
PA1
SD40T-2
SD40-2
3 x Dash 9
AC4400
Bachmann
F7A
Dash 8
2 x GP40
GP50
E-R Models (Roco chassis)
2 x FP7
Baldwin Sharknose
Lifelike Proto
Erie-Built
C-Liner A/B
Walthers Trainline
F40PH
Dash 8-40B
That's the ones I can remember! Have just ordered a DCC starter set (Lenz Compact) so will be going through the fleet fitting decoders. First to be fitted will be the Sharknose, C-Liner A unit, Erie-Built, and Dash 8-40B, along with a Bachmann OO scale GWR 66XX class 0-6-2 tank loco (used for heavy coal haulage over here in the steam age, mine runs with a lengthy train of Dapol coal wagons). Have been adding extra power feeds to my layout today in preperation for DCC, have another one or two to go in so that all track is live all the time.

RE: Whats your engine roster?
Way too many, most just bought because I liked the way they looked, very few actually working for a living. And they are all Kato ALCos, about 6 of 'em, 424s, a 425, and RS11s.
The rest just decorate my shelves, about 60-70 in all, I think.
