Re: Teen Model Railroader Place

Nice pic GG.

Welcome to TMRP. Like every one else said have fun hanging around here. It can get kind of slow here at times. But we try to keep things up-to-date.

Nice new freelaced RR Sawyer.

I got back from a two day trip to IRM, Davis Junction, and Rochelle yesterday. At Rochelle they have train shop where the park is. There was a Susise-Q (NYSQ) SD40T-2 that I was tempted to buy...could patch it up nice in the WIN....but I decided that my money needs to go else where.

I got two Rail Fan vids from Davis Junction.

This is basicaly a run by of 6 SD40s/SD40-2s shoving back to clear the junction. 3 ICE SD40-2s, and 3 DME SD40s.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q04tTpXzRQQ

This when the ICE West Bound train left. This is one of my favorite videos, next to the 3 CP SD40-2s at Portage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui-xoHbWyoA

(BTW ICE stands from Iowa Chicago and Eastern, and DME stands for Dakota Minnesota and Eastern.)

Tommrow I'll have the WC 7525 video up. I know many fo you have porbably heard SD40-2s. But trust me, the SD45 is way diffrent. Those 4 extra cylinders make a huge diffrence. The SD45 is deeper than the SD40-2, much deeper. You can feel it in the ground. Videos and sound recording might be nice, but they are nothing compared to being there in person. Sawyer I reccoment you have an all SD45 roster. lol, it would be worth it!

Re: Teen Model Railroader Place

hi, the names ethan and im 12, i modle ho and n and from time to time i set up my grandfathers railking 0 scale from the 1950's, i have very little room for my layout and im considering selling my n scale, im so limmited on space that my layout sive is 52" by 60" i have no set era, i got 5 consits for ho (well 4 1/2 i still gota get an amtrak loco) and the ear ranging from early 1900's to modern. my ho scale consists mogul and 2 heavy weights, pacific and 2 stream lined cars, 2-8-8-2 and mixed freight, (the hoppers with the cosists are way out of era), amtrak pullman standerd streamlined cars and finaly coal quad hoppers.

if you have limited space why would you sell your n scale they are smaller and thats the reason i model n is for more stuff in an amount of space.

Yeah, I had some HO trainsets, then they kinda got out of my mind. Then I got a Bachmann Iron Duke train set, and then my N scale layout went from there.

Re: Teen Model Railroader Place

I have no N Scale equipment, plus I have a pretty sizable (12' by 22') HO layout that I would not like to find out how hard it is to tear down...the benchwork could survive a nuclear explosion... All 2" by 4"s, screwed together with two screws at each joint, and the sections all bolted together with 1/2" bolts... Not to mention the fact that the layout's over halfway finished...Whistling [:-^]

I was at a hobby shop (Tucker's Hobbies in Warren, MA; best hobby shop I've ever been to) a few days ago; and I looked at the N Scale stuff. It looks pretty good (and fun to build a layout with; my area would look huge in N...) but it's a wee bit small for me... Great if you want more in less space though!Smile [:)]

Re: Teen Model Railroader Place

Like i said before...I am 16, and Model the Pennsylvania RR in the 1940-1950's.  I have a layout but it is too small to run some of my equipment.  So i go to my club with 30 scale miles of track...which takes 20 minutes to get around.  It has a heilix also and a Huge yard..and it is 2 levels, on dcc, so i can run my sound Loco.
